Data Developer Intern

ARAG is hiring a Data Developer Intern! We are looking for a driven student to create data integrations, design data architecture, support our production databases, and enhance our ETL process by modernizing our technology using Camel integrations. We will keep you busy and provide important hands-on experience while embedded in a scrum team. You will enjoy a flexible schedule and a fun and collaborative culture!

Execution

• With guidance, develops applications that meet business requirements. Create scripts to build new database objects. Develop stored procedures, functions, packages, triggers, and views.
• Tests code to an acceptable defect level prior to handoff to QA and UAT.
• Provides support, guidance and collaborating with other Data Developers to implement database design.
• Actively participates in development and scrum team meetings.
• Addresses bugs with QA, plan schemas with developers, and responds quickly to other business needs and tickets.
• Submits code for reviews and integrate suggestions into solution while meeting security standards necessary to pass the code review.
• Designs logical and physical data models.
• Meets agreed upon timeframes.
• Provides status updates to leader.
• Actively participates in educational opportunities, both technical and business opportunities.

Production Support

• Proactively monitor systems availability performance and capacity and suggest adjustments, as necessary.
• Provide production support for applications and research root cause.
• Maintains documentation and design papers.

Miscellaneous

• Serves as a positive role model by representing ARAG at its Best.

• Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge

Required:

• Coursework or demonstrated experience using databases.

Preferred:

• Familiar with data design, data workflow, data models, data quality, data integration, data standards, and design of solutions with complex business rules.
• Ability to trouble-shoot and resolve issues at both a strategic and tactical level.
• Course work or experience using Oracle, Azure DevOps, Camel preferred.

Skills

Required

• Strong problem solving, troubleshooting, organization, time management and communication skills.

Preferred

• IDE development experience with industry standard tool(s) such as Toad or PL/SQL Developer.
• Experience with Oracle PL/SQL and database modelling. Ability to create packages, views, procedures, functions, triggers. Ability to create structures using referential integrity.
• Experience with data warehousing ETL processes and reporting tools.
• Experience working with large data sets.
• Proven experience working successfully on application development project teams.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Proficiency with complex data joins and database tuning.
• Proactive, self-starter with demonstrated ability to manage priorities through effective time management skills.
• Ability to be flexible and respond to change.

Education

• Currently pursuing, or already has completed a bachelor’s degree in relevant coursework, or equivalent combination of education, experience and formal training in IT or a related field. Must be in good academic standing with applicable college institution.
