Created in 1993, LAHSA is a joint powers authority of the city and county of Los Angeles. As the lead agency in the HUD-funded Los Angeles Continuum of Care, we coordinate and manage over $800 million annually in federal, state, county, and city funds for programs providing shelter, housing, and services to people experiencing homelessness.
Under the leadership of the Access and Engagement Operations Manager, this position is primarily responsible for accurate, efficient and complete data entry into the Los Angeles Continuum of Care Homeless Management Information System (HMIS). This position will train and support the Homeless Engagement Team (HET) members to ensure data integrity in the entry of client level data from outreach services. The Data Coordinator will be a liaison between the HMIS team and the HET members.
- Enter data by inputting alphabetic and numeric information using an established procedure into the HMIS which utilizes a web-based interface.
- Maintain data entry requirements by following data entry techniques and procedures.
- Verify entered data by reviewing, correcting, deleting, or reentering data and purging files to eliminate duplication of data.
- Train and coach HET staff on issues related to data entry.
- Identify and escalate any data integrity or data collection challenges to upper management team and assist as appropriate to develop solutions to those challenges.
- Maintain customer confidence and protect operations by keeping information confidential. Maintain professional relationships with offices of local government and City and County Departments, especially by providing consistent, accurate data reports
- Represent LAHSA at community meetings and conduct presentations with selected groups.
- Review Request for Services to identify areas of necessary follow-up.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Intermediate level of experience with MS Office Suite
- Excellent people skills, specifically customer service skills and a capacity for collaboration and interpersonal relationships
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to express technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects and timelines
- Work independently, be proactive, and exercise good judgment

Schedule
- The Chief Executive Officer or designee may change the schedule of positions between remote, hybrid and onsite, as necessary to accomplish LAHSA's business needs.
