Job description

The Associate Governmental Program Analyst (AGPA) independently performs the more responsible, varied, and complex technical analytical assignments in the Office of Professional Development & Engagement (OPDE), Engagement Services Unit (ESU). The AGPA serves as a Data and Information Technology (IT) Internship, Apprenticeship, and Fellowship Coordinator and is responsible for managing and leading the more complex and difficult activities to support the establishment of a talent pipeline consisting of a robust internship, fellowship, and apprenticeship program designed to recruit talent with essential IT, data, and informatics skills.
The AGPA also works collaboratively with internal and external partners and stakeholders to coordinate program activities.
Remote/hybrid work is available for this position, in accordance with CDPH's Telework Policy and Procedures. Employees are required to travel periodically to the East End Complex in Downtown Sacramento for work-related activities.

OPDE has an immediate opening for a Data and Information Technology Internship, Apprenticeship, and Fellowship Coordinator in our Sacramento Office with remote/hybrid work available in our Sacramento office. Under the direction of OPDE's Engagement Services Unit (ESU) Manager, the AGPAs' duties support programs and services which benefit the personal and professional growth and well-being of CDPH employees, as well as promoting organizational excellence. Every day in OPDE is a new and exciting adventure. Along the way, you will:
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to provide and support a variety of employee engagement and professional and organizational development opportunities.
  • Invest and interact with participants for the primary purpose of stimulating and facilitating growth, development, well-being, and performance for CDPH employees statewide.
  • Support the development of marketing and communication methods for CDPH's development and engagement programs.
  • Coordinate strategies and objectives in alignment with office and department strategic goals, mission, and vision.

  • Knowledge and experience in public service or a Public Health organization
  • Knowledge and experience in stakeholder engagement and customer service.
  • Knowledge and experience in research, data analytics, and reporting
  • Knowledge and experience in planning and organizing internship, fellowship apprenticeship, or related engagement programs and services
  • Knowledge and experience in recruitment and marketing
  • Knowledge and experience in program or project planning
  • Knowledge and experience with providing training, coaching, or presentations using online tools such as Microsoft Teams, Zoom, or WebEx
  • Understanding of the value and importance of supporting employees and teammates through recognition, equity, and diversity

Desirable Qualifications In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in public service or a Public Health Organization.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience developing and implementing professional development and/or employee engagement programs and services.
  • Familiarity with data, informatics, and IT skillsets in a government Department and/or the field of public health.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment and manage projects that require input from multiple staff that are cross-divisional
  • Ability to recognize connections and opportunities for collaboration with diverse partners
  • Experience reasoning logically and creatively and utilizing a variety of analytical techniques to resolve complex governmental problems.
