Responsibilities:
  • Expert in deciding and implementing backup strategies which match business's RTO and RPO.
  • Installing new SQL Server instances in both standalone and clustered environments.
  • Expert in understanding and implementing SQL Server Security
  • Expert in Implementing, monitoring, maintaining and troubleshooting SQL Server Log Shipping, Replication, Clustering and AlwaysOn AGs.
  • Great understanding of SQL Server internals
  • Troubleshoot SQL Server service outages as they occur.
  • Configure SQL Server monitoring utilities to minimize false alarms.
  • Extensive experience in understanding, troubleshooting and fixing Performance issues by optimizing server performance, by keeping up-to-date DB health, working with QueryStore, reviewing and fixing issues with existing indexes, statistics or by introducing new, reviewing queries/stored procedures for anti-performance pattern and suggest the fix.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot and fix IO subsystem and other resources as and when needed.
  • Understanding, implementing and fixing Encryption, Compression, CDC, CT, Resource governor, partitioning.
  • Experience with Migration and Upgradation of SQL Server.
  • Participate and lead DB DR tests.
  • Work as escalation point of contact for Jr. DBAs.

Pay Rate: 30.00-35.00$/Hour
Required Skills:
  • Experience with Azure database offerings
  • Experience with AWD database offerings
  • Experience with MongoDB, PostgreSQL, MySQL and Sybase
  • Strong experience in Database Administration in SQL Server ( all versions)
  • Experience in Performance Tuning, Query Optimization, using Performance Monitor, SQL Profiler and other related monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
  • Ability to detect and troubleshoot SQL Server related CPU, memory, I/O, disk space and other resource contention.
  • Strong knowledge of backups, restores, recovery models, database shrink operations, DBCC commands, Clustering, Database mirroring, Replication, AlwaysOn.
  • Experience of using Profiler traces and other tools to find the most frequently run queries
  • Strong knowledge of how indexes, index management, integrity checks, configuration, patching.
  • How statistics work, how indexes are stored, how they can be created and managed effectively.
  • Knowledge of SQL Server tools (Profiler, DTA, SSMS, Perfmon, DMVs etc.)
  • SQL Development - ability to write and troubleshoot DBA specific SQL Code and design ( stored procs, functions, tables, views, triggers, indexes, constraints )
  • Is a self-starter who is committed high quality work and can adapt to new challenges, either on their own or as part of a team
  • Ability to work in a deadline oriented environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills - Written and Verbal. Exposure to International clients will be an advantage.
  • Experience in handling TB scale of DBs and PB scale of data will be an advantage
  • Ready to work in a 24*7 environment
