Position Summary:
Kemper is seeking a Data Automation Engineer to work on our Enterprise Data Services team.
Position Responsibilities:

• This engineer will be responsible for automating setup, scaling and maintaining production databases (applications in Oracle, Snowflake, Clouds like AWS)
• Responsible for working with development teams and engineers to provide database design guidance
• Manage Database upgrades and migrations, while monitoring and improving database performances
• Provide assessments of data integrity, high availability, data security, and privacy
• Triage and troubleshoot database issues, drive incidents until resolution and employ measures to prevent recurrence
• Do capacity planning benchmarking on various databases (Oracle, Snowflake)
• Develop, implement and maintain automation tools to manage and monitor diverse database technologies that we have at Kemper
• Use programming languages like PL/SQL, Python, Java, SCALA

Position Qualifications:

• 2+ years of Experience with AWS (RDS, EC2, S3, IAM etc.)
• 5+ years of experience as Application DBA
• Snowflake database experience is a required
• Working experience with Python
• Expertise with SQL and Oracle
• Strong Programming experience in one of these languages: Python/Go/Shell/Perl, PL/SQL or similar languages for scripting and automation.
• Strong experience in CI/CD (GITLAB, Jenkins)
• Application DRE in at least one of the database technologies cited above.
• Experience with databases at TB scale, high throughput and low latency
• Performance analysis, queries optimization Experience with monitoring and alerting systems
• AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate is a plus but not required
• Knowledge and hands-on in AI/ML is a big plus.
• Good experience with DR on cloud AWS cloud (Multi region setup).
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, proven collaboration skills, validated collaboration skills.
• This position is a remote role and can work from a US based home.

The range for this position is $78,800 to $135,000. When determining candidate offers, we consider experience, skills, education, certifications, and geographic location among other factors. This job is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus and Kemper benefits (Medical, Dental, Vision, PTO, 401k, etc.)
