About You
The Data Architect's role is to serve as a subject matter expert and perform tasks that contribute to the organization's use of data-driven decisions. Daily activities include the design and maintenance of the Town of Gilbert's Data Architecture that supports and aligns with the organization's data governance efforts, to promote data quality, security, and accessibility, as well as architectural best practices and strategies. The role will serve as a liaison to the Data Governance Manager to provide leadership and guidance to other Town departments; revise data dictionary definitions; governance practices, and standards; and will partner with the Town's security department to ensure compliance with security and privacy mandates. Additional responsibilities include analyzing system requirements, designing data models, and assisting in the data migration, to it ensure that it aligns with enterprise standards. Utilize Matillion for data transformation and ETL processes to include end-to-end data ingestion. Other duties such as evaluating and recommending new and emerging data management solutions and storage technologies and standards, and ensuring consistency between data management, enterprise storage, and all other technical system components. This role encompasses all aspects of data management, conceptual, logical, and physical.

This position will define and document standards, frameworks, and reference architectures that will lead to developing database solutions by designing proposed systems; defining database physical structures and functional capabilities including security, backup, and recovery specifications. This position will analyze database implementation methods to make sure they are in line with company policies and any external regulations that may apply and be able to work with business and development teams to convey the value of enterprise data modeling, data quality, and data governance practices. Other duties include working closely with other teams to deliver new environments and resolve problems related to existing infrastructure and providing insight into the changing database storage and utilization requirements for the company and offering suggestions for solutions.

- Extensive experience with data modeling, ETL design, and data integration techniques.
- Familiarity with BI tools and data management software.
