The City of Chandler Information Technology Department is currently seeking qualified individuals interested in joining our team as anIT Enterprise Data Architect. This is a full-time, exempt position with benefits. The City of Chandler supports diverse working environments including telecommuting.

Who we are
The City of Chandler, Information Technology Department consists of 58 positions, along with contractors and managed services, that provide technology solutions and support to over 2200 full-time, temporary and part-time employees in the City.

Who we are looking for
Our new IT Enterprise Data Architect will provide the vision and strategy for the city's Enterprise Data analytics program while partnering with the application managers and business leaders to understand the evolving requirements. The best candidate will have a passion for customer service, teamwork, and collaboration along with a strong technical acumen of data warehouse/data lake implementations, experience delivering standards and procedures as well as strong leadership, short and long term planning, and project management skills.
The purpose of this position is to serve as a subject matter expert and perform tasks that contribute to the organization's use of data driven decisions. The Enterprise Data Architect will develop a detailed knowledge of the underlying data and data products and become the subject matter expert on content, current and potential future uses of data, and the interrelationship between core elements of the data repository. The ability to work independently with minimal supervision, utilizing initiative to anticipate needs in areas of responsibility, excellent written and verbal communications skills as well as the ability to interact professionally with diverse group of executives, managers, and subject matter experts and possessing strong analytical and problem-solving skills are preferred. Knowledge and skills in business analytics, key BI trends, reporting standards, project management and clear presentation of data coupled with the ability to continually learn and demonstrate new skills via hands on training, classroom training and self-study are essential for an employee in this role.
Essential Duties
1.
Provides technical guidance to staff and/or contractor(s), prioritizes and assigns work, trains staff, and assures work quality and timely completion of assigned duties; acts as a subject matter expert for employees assigned to a related class; may provide input for use in performance evaluations.
2. Defines the strategy and roadmap for Enterprise Data modeling, implementation and data management for the Enterprise Data warehouse.
3. Performs a key leadership role in the areas of advanced data techniques including data modeling, data access, data integration, text mining, data discovery, database design and implementation for structured, semi-structured and unstructured data.
4. Defines and documents standards, frameworks and reference architectures including the Master Data Model.
5. Drives prototyping, design, and implementation for projects.
6. Hands on leader who works with staff and customers to understand the business requirements and business processes, design data warehouse ("DW") schema and define extract-translate-load ("ETL") and/or extract-load-translate ("ELT") processes for DW.
7. Manages day to day operations and ensures environments meet security framework requirements.
8. Leverages Machine Learning models to ensure best of class analytics capabilities for the City of Chandler.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field and/or related work experience in the related field; and
Six (6) years of experience with information technology programs and services, with demonstrated expertise in Enterprise Data management and related technologies; or
An equivalent combination of education and/or current experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the position.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Enterprise Data management technologies, including database platforms, ETL tools, and SQL Server as well as data modeling, both logical and physical. (Prefer MS Azure Synapse Analytics)
Fundamental Cloud Infrastructure experience (MS Azure preferred)
Experience developing Machine Learning Models
Strong experience in Export Load Transform (ELT) ingestion operations
A register of qualified candidates will be active for four (4) months should another position become available.
