Data Analytics Specialist

This position is for a full-time, 12-month, unclassified, staff position.
Salary commensurate with credentials and experience.
Work location flexibility may be considered.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Statics, Data Analytics or related.
• Minimum three (3) years work experience in institutional research, information technology, software development, or data science.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Oracle SQL.
• Work experience in Ellucian Banner. Cognos, Ad Astra, Java, or PHP a plus.
• Ability to work and learn independently or as part of a team, with good initiative, self-motivation, communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to learn new technology and software as they are introduced into the work environment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Must have use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear and handle or feel objects and controls.
• Must have physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office equipment such as, but not limited to, personal computer, calculator, copier, and fax machine.
• Ability to occasionally lift or carry up to 10 pounds.
• Must be capable of sitting in stationary position for 50% or more of time.

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.This position is responsible for development of database applications and/ or systems per guidelines, convert data into easily accessible formats for users, generate reports and provide technical support to users as needed.

• Designs, codes, tests, debugs, modifies, and documents new or existing applications within accepted standards, procedures and guidelines.
• Responsible for aiding end users in meeting system reporting guideline and deadlines.
• Schedules and runs daily processing jobs according to established procedures.
• Perform exploratory data analysis and visualization to get a better appreciation of the data.
• Perform college level statistical and actuarial analysis.
• Produce reports summarizing data for consumers with in-field expertise and for lay people and outside customers.
• Create systems and formulae for data analysis within given parameters and audit results for accuracy within set limits.
