You will be an integral part of the USDS Cyber Defense & Engineering team, responsible for enhancing security tools, identifying vulnerabilities, and comprehending the intricacies of our people and data within USDS. Collaborating cross-functionally with partners within and outside TikTok, our objective is to fortify our products and users' security, aiming to establish TikTok as the most trusted platform.
We are seeking a versatile, forward-thinking, and outcome-driven Data Analyst to propel our projects forward. In this capacity, you will engage with diverse technical and non-technical teams across various regions, contributing to the tracking and development of various initiatives aimed at crafting innovative solutions to complex technical challenges. This role offers an exciting prospect.
The ideal candidate will possess demonstrated problem-solving abilities, sound business acumen, and a track record of collaborating with multiple teams to successfully deliver projects. They should exhibit a genuine passion for safeguarding the security and privacy of our users.
In order to enhance collaboration and cross-functional partnerships, among other things, at this time, our organization follows a hybrid work schedule that requires employees to work in the office 3 days a week, or as directed by their manager/department. We regularly review our hybrid work model, and the specific requirements may change at any time.
Responsibilities
- Leading the data analysis function end-to-end (from requirements to report/dashboard delivery).This includes upfront requirements gathering, followed by detailed data analysis, identification of data sources, creation of schema diagrams, and metrics calculations.
- Data processing and data quality validation to ensure the best possible data insights are driving the solutions.
- Build data pipelines, optimize ETL processes, ensure data integrity, and find opportunities to add efficiency and automation to everyday tasks.
- Partner with a wide range of stakeholders both within Technology and also with cross-functional teams.
- Working in ambiguous situations to understand the requirements and design the best methodology for extraction of data.
- Generate actionable insights from data for partners to grow and help support them to drive better and faster decision making.
- Bachelor's degree or above, major in mathematics, statistics, computer is preferred; or major in science or engineering or engaged in data statistics, analysis, modeling related working areas after graduation
- Proficient in SQL , Tableau, Python or R for data analysis and Kafka
- At least 5 years of working experience in data analysis and creating pipelines for automation of backend data.
- Able to complete reports and communicate with global staff and senior leadership independently
- Have a strong learning ability and curiosity; ability to lead a small project to support partner teams
- Experience in cyber security is preferred

This role requires the ability to work with and support systems designed to protect sensitive data and information. As such, this role will be subject to strict national security-related screening.
Job Information
The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $98800 - $196000 annually.
Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.
