Responsibilities
- Choreograph and teach a dynamic routine to get 30 participants excited about upcoming auditions to Grease
- Successfully teach group of youth and/or adults in disenfranchised communities (Ages 8+)
- Ability to choreograph unique and engaging dances to songs within the Grease Soundtrack
- Teach participants to be versatile in their expressions, emotions, and movement styles,
- Focus on spacial and body awareness, floor work, leaps, and turns to further accelerate their training and give them a well-rounded facility
- Teaching age-appropriate creative movement, dance skills, student self-directed improvisation and composition, and interdisciplinary inquiry projects during and after school
- Experienced in developing and channeling group dynamics for positive learning outcomes
- Experienced in using differentiated and culturally responsive instruction and restorative justice classroom management approaches with and for BIPOC students
- Highly motivated and motivating
- Serving students, teachers and communities similar to our demographics
- Supporting an organizational vision, mission, core values and programs similar to ActUp Theater
- Attend all staff meetings required for planning
- Communicate with the team for all needs to accomplish the assigned task
Preferred Qualifications
- Dance education grounded in professional artistry
- Professional Experience with Praise Dancing and related choreography
- Convene safe spaces that increase empathy and understanding
- Ability to cater dances to various age ranges; creativity choreography that is appropriate for respective production participants
- Ability to create choreography specific to the production vision of ActUp Theater
Job Types: Part-time, Contract
Pay: $18.00 - $24.00 per hour
