The Department of Dance is seeking a Dance Accompanist to prepare and provide collaborative musical accompaniment for dance classes and/or performances. This is an academic year (9-month) appointment.
- Learn, practice, and play dance repertoire for ballet and contemporary courses.
- Improvise musically in support of course instructor as needed.
- Develop new styles to work with changing faculty.
- Provide guest lectures for Music Essentials.
- May supervise student accompanists.

Education Required
- Bachelor’s degree in required area of musical performance or equivalent combination of education and professional accompanying experience.
Required Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of experience as a professional accompanist.
- Professional level music skills in the style and instrument that will support the assigned courses.
- Working knowledge of accompaniment genre such as Dance, Vocal Music, and Instrumental Music.
- Approachable, cooperative, and able to contribute to an overall positive and productive work/team environment. (Basic Experience).
Desired Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree preferred.
- Experience working in a higher education setting desired.
- Experience accompanying dance classes.
- Experience with composition, music editing, and recording.
