Summary of Position:
The New England Gypsum Supply, Inc.'s Customer Service Representative is responsible for assisting customers with product assistance, order help and assisting outside sales representatives with growing sales with current and potential customers.
Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Conduct daily sales calls both in-person and by phone with regular and prospective customers to solicit orders
  • Cross-sell products to an existing customer base
  • Deliver material to job sites, particularly for customer emergencies and to maintain good customer relations
  • Network by phone with key decision makers
  • Quote prices, prepare proposals and provide information regarding terms of sales and delivery dates
  • Mine existing and prospective customers for referral business
  • Maintain sales records and generate relevant market/sales reports for management as needed
  • Investigate and resolve customer problems with deliveries
  • Research and make recommendations for potential product enhancements or modifications to increase sales
  • Communicate with Inside Sales Department regarding the processing of orders and cross-referencing of prices
  • Proactively develop new customer contacts, compile list of prospective customers for use as sales leads
  • Communicate with Credit Department regarding customer status and assist with collections as necessary

Other Competencies:
  • Provide assistance to outside sales team as necessary
  • Continually build selling techniques and product knowledge though in-person and online training
  • Attend trade shows as required by management

Basic Qualifications:
  • 5 years of sales experience with some industry knowledge strongly preferred
  • Must possess a valid driver's license
  • Must possess a working knowledge of Microsoft business applications (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel) and be comfortable using Internet for sourcing and obtaining data
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business information
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management, customers and other employees
  • Must possess basic math skills with experience in calculating figures and amounts such as proportions percentages, area, circumference and volume; ability to apply basic concepts of algebra and geometry
  • Must be able to accept rejection and not be easily discouraged
  • Ability to work independently while being a strong team player
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize effectively
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and ability to build and maintain relationships
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Highly organized and detail oriented with ability to work in a fast paced environment under pressure
  • Must be able to work long days

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
  • Significant amount of driving within the tri-state area on a daily basis; occasional overnight travel
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear
  • The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
  • The employee is frequently required to sit (often in connection with driving) and climb (particularly stairs) or balance
  • The employee must regularly lift, move, and walk holding materials up to ten pounds, frequently lift, move, and walk holding materials to fifty pounds, and occasionally lift, move and walk holding materials more than one hundred pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus

Estimated Compensation Range: $75,000 - $85,000/annually
