Custodian - Police Department

The Town of Portsmouth is seeking an individual for a full-time Custodian for the Police Department. The position performs custodial maintenance duties, including dusting, mopping, trash removal, finishing and buffing floors, vacuuming and cleaning, and restocking restrooms.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

High School graduate or equivalent; U.S. citizen or able to produce proper work authorization; Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check; Must comply with Police Department policies, procedures and standards.

JOB RESPONSIBILITES:

· Performs general, routine custodial duties, to include dusting, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning restrooms, hallways, offices, cell blocks, sallyport and restocking paper and soap supplies.

· Performs routine maintenance to custodial equipment and supplies.

· Empties trash receptacles, disposes trash into compactors and/or dumpsters, and bags trash for proper disposal.

· Unlocks doors, ensuring doors are locked after cleaning areas.

· Reports needs and concerns to the Administrative Lieutenant, which may include submitting or recommending work orders and checking supply levels.

· Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.

· Performs cleaning functions specific to the assigned facilities and/or based on seasonal/project requirements.

· Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
