Job description

Duties

  • Cleans offices, corridors, stairways, entryways, cafeteria and other areas.
  • Sweeps, dry mops, wet mops, scrubs, strips, waxes and polishes floors using brooms, vacuum cleaners, floor scrubbers and buffers.
  • Removes stains from a variety of surfaces such as rugs, drapes, walls, floors, and fixtures by use of chemicals and cleaning solutions.
  • Keeps rest rooms clean, orderly, and in sanitary condition.
  • Performs snow removal at entry doors, smoking shelter, and other areas as needed.
  • Keeps stock of cleaning material and equipment needed to do the work and orders from warehouse when additional supplies are needed.
  • Notes condition of restrooms and reports to supervisor water leaks, clogged drains, and other conditions requiring maintenance.

Qualifications

In order to qualify for this position you must meet the following by the closing date of the vacancy announcement: 04/03/2024. Qualifications will be determined under the Job Element Rating System X-118C, Qualifications Standard Handbook. While a specific length of time and experience is not required for most Wage Grade positions, you must show through experience and training that you possess the best qualified level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of this position. Qualification requirements emphasize the quality of experience, not necessarily the length. The responses to the questionnaire and your resume should be in significant detail to provide the person rating your application with a good understanding of your ability to do the job, technical knowledge, work, and training experience, etc. (For example You must have the ability to perform the duties of a, Custodial Worker without more than normal supervision (Screen Out)). Applicants who do not meet the SCREEN OUT ELEMENT will not be given further consideration.
Physical Effort
  • The incumbent must be able to operate and control floor maintenance machines, move and control heavy equipment and carry, set up, and work from ladders. Frequently lift and move objects weighing 40 pounds and occasionally over 50 pounds. Regularly operates push type lawn mowers, shovels snow off of walks and operates electric brush trimmer. Will be required to work with a large variety of cleaning agents. This job will require bending and lifting and moderate to heavy physical effort when mopping or moving furniture.
Working Conditions
  • The work is usually performed in offices, common public areas, warehouses, or outdoor facilities. The work involves exposure to strong cleaning solutions, disagreeable odors, and exposure to hot and cold conditions, high noise and vibration levels, and occasionally to harmful biological, chemical, and physical agents. Protective devices such as gloves, goggles, face mask, or respirators and immunizations may be required. The health status of personnel may be monitored periodically using biologic and serologic tests and physical examinations if required.

You will be evaluated for this job based on how well you meet the qualifications above.
