This is a remote, part-time, project-based 1099 Independent Contractor position. Must be located within driving distance to Claremont, CA for meetings/training as needed.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
Are you interested in shaping the educational experience for K-8 students?
As a Curriculum Writer Assistant you will be responsible for assisting in the development of curriculum materials and designing engaging content focusing on Literacy, Math, and Science. Your expertise will be crucial in developing grade-level appropriate lessons that adhere to Common Core Standards and Next Generation Science Standards. Additionally, you will ensure consistency and coherence across materials by formatting lessons using our Middle Tree Lesson Guide and Lesson Plan Template.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist the Curriculum Writer in aligning current curriculum materials to meet programmatic needs and project design for K-8 content, focusing on Literacy, Math, and Science.
- Support the development of grade-level appropriate lessons that align with Common Core Standards and Next Generation Science Standards.
- Format lessons using the Middle Tree Lesson Guide and Lesson Plan Template to ensure consistency and coherence across materials.
- Create supplemental collaterals for content as needed, including worksheets, activities, games, or assessments, to enhance student learning and engagement.
- Assist in applying Middle Tree's Pedagogical approach to curriculum design, integrating research-based instructional strategies and methodologies.
- Collaborate with the Curriculum Writer and Education Director to think through, edit, revise, and adapt suggested changes to curriculum materials, ensuring alignment with program goals and objectives.
- Contribute to the development of scope and sequence documents that tie together current and new lesson materials into coherent units, providing an overview of learning objectives, content, and thematic sequencing for teachers and students.
- Assist in utilizing Middle Tree's data reporting structure to generate pre- and post-assessments that align curriculum with assessment, allowing for ongoing evaluation of student progress and curriculum effectiveness.
- Identify curriculum resources that support student engagement and learning and maintain a database of recommendations for the Education Department.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in education, Curriculum Development, or related field (or currently enrolled in a relevant program).
- Strong understanding of educational standards, including Common Core and Next Generation Science Standards.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, Canva, and Monday.com or Asana a plus.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.

Pay: $20.00 per hour
