KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools is part of the KIPP national network. In the 2024-25 school year, the KIPP Jacksonville region will be comprised of four schools educating more than 3,000 students, kindergarten through twelfth grade in the North and West sides of Jacksonville, Florida.

  • KIPP Impact Academy: Kindergarten - 4th grade, 6th - 8th grade
  • KIPP VOICE Academy: Kindergarten - 8th grade
  • KIPP Bessie Coleman Academy: Kindergarten - 8th grade
  • KIPP Bold City High School: 9th - 12th grade

For the current school year, teachers at KIPP Jacksonville Public Schools work the following hours Monday through Friday and may have occasional meetings or special school events outside of these hours. Hours for teachers and students may vary slightly by school.

  • K-8 Staff: 7:30am - 4:30pm K-8 Students: 8:00am - 3:30pm, Wednesday K-8 dismissal is at 1:30pm
  • High School Staff: 6:45am - 3:45pm, High School Students: 7:15am - 2:30pm, Wednesday High School dismissal is at 12:30pm.

Every Wednesday is a student early release day, which allows teachers to participate in weekly professional development and content team meetings. *This doesn’t include Wellness Wednesdays when all staff leave at student dismissal.

Job Description

KIPP Jacksonville seeks Curriculum Specialist(s) who will serve as a curriculum manager for the schools across the KIPP Jacksonville region. The CS furthers our mission by overseeing the full implementation of the K-12 curriculum to lead students to the highest achievement results possible. The CS ensures students have learning experiences that are aligned to standards, rigorous, and engaging. The CS is an engaging facilitator who leads professional development about science and teaching best practices, drives data conversations about student progress, models lesson delivery, and offers support where needed.

In your application, you should include which content/subject area you would feel most comfortable supporting as a Curriculum Specialist.

Success would be measured by curriculum implementation results and student achievement in the designated content. The CS is a full-time, manager-level role that reports to the Senior Director, Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment for the upcoming school year. The role is on the shared services team and is part of the larger academic team that supports schools. As a member of the shared services team, this individual would be responsible for doing whatever it takes to ensure that students develop the knowledge, skills, and character strengths they need to succeed throughout their education and in the competitive world beyond.

This position is year-round and performs duties as assigned by their manager. Typical hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. but can vary based on role and season.

SPECIFIC DUTIES

  • Collaborate with regional and school-based leaders to develop and refine a horizontally and vertically aligned K-12 content framework
  • Develop and facilitate region-wide professional development for teachers in order to build our teachers’ and leaders’ capacity with subject area content, planning, and instructional execution
  • Oversee the full implementation of curriculum across all grade levels, K-8 and at the high school level including Advanced Placement)
  • Create and revise regional curriculum calendars in collaboration with the academic team and schools
  • Ensure alignment of curriculum to standards and state assessments
  • Serve as a liaison to school-based content leads with curriculum-related questions
  • Analyze regional data in collaboration with regional and school-based leadership to identify areas of need, and support the facilitation of region-wide instructional initiatives that lead us to our goals
  • Monitor and evaluate school-based intervention and instructional technology programs
  • Conduct regular instructional reviews
  • Serve as a model teacher and assist as needed in the classroom setting
  • Provide coaching as needed to teachers and school-based content leaders
  • Other duties as assigned

COMPENSATION

  • The starting salary for this role is typically $50,00-$55,000

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • At least four (4) years of relevant teaching experience in K-12 science. social studies, English, or math.
  • Evidence of leading or influencing other adults through a teacher-leader, coaching, or administrative role (grade level chair, content chair, department chair, professional development facilitator, coach, assistant principal, etc.)
  • Florida teaching certificate in relevant area or equivalent
  • Demonstrated strong student achievement results
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a team of teachers and leaders
  • Outstanding public speaking and writing skills
  • Technological proficiency and adaptability

HIGHLY PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with teaching in Florida in a tested/assessed grade level
  • Prior experience as an instructional coach or content specialist
  • Relevant Master’s degree
