Metropolitan Education District (MetroED) is a regional provider of Career Technical Education (CTE) and Adult Education. As the largest organization of its kind in Santa Clara County, we are dedicated to offering career-oriented education to both high school and adult students. Annually, MetroED provides 2,600 diverse students with the skills to help them be productive, income-earning, and tax-paying contributors to Silicon Valley.
MetroED collaborates with designated districts to provide comprehensive educational opportunities for adults and high school students. Through our Silicon Valley Career Technical Education program, we offer career technical education to high school students and, on a space-available basis, to adult students in the following districts: Campbell Union High School District, East Side Union High School District, Los Gatos-Saratoga Union High School District, Milpitas Unified School District, San Jose Unified School District, and Santa Clara Unified School District.
Additionally, our Silicon Valley Adult Education provides courses for the San Jose Unified School District.
Job Summary
Under the direction of the Principal or designee, and with appropriate support, plan, develop, and deliver lessons to instruct and assess students in Mental Health Career pathway classes as part of a sequenced program. Operate and maintain computers and technical equipment, promote safety and career-ready practices, and prepare students for post-secondary success. Classes will incorporate collaborative problem-solving to apply knowledge and skills to real-world challenges. The teacher will teach workplace skills, present opportunities related to careers in Mental Health, and help students prepare for industry certification, internships, college, and entry-level employment specifically in the career pathway of Mental Health. The teacher is responsible for developing student skills, knowledge and attitudes commensurate with the goals of the program and for effectively using equipment to meet goals. Performs other related work as required. This is an exempt position.
Requirements / Qualifications
Experience:
• A minimum of three (3) years of successful teaching experience is desirable but not necessary, preferably in Career Technical Education and/or Regional Occupational Programs (ROP)
• Experience working with industry specific field educational programs, and/or site supervising and managing CTE instructional programs is desired
• Minimum of three (3) years of industry experience
Required: a cover letter, a resume and three (3) current letters of recommendation (within a year)
