    THIS POSITION WILL BE HIRED THROUGH THE PIERCE COUNTY SKILLS CENTER, NOT BETHEL SCHOOL DISTRICT.
    POSITION: Teacher – Medical Assistant
    The Pierce County Skills Center is seeking teacher applicants who have the potential to be leaders and innovative educators. Successful candidates will demonstrate the ability to deliver instruction based upon best available research and practices in teaching and learning.
    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Instruct high school students in basic academic, applied, and employability skills in the Medical Assistant.
    • Demonstrated ability to arrange and oversee students during Year 2 clinicals.
    • Work closely and partner with an advisory committee of individuals in the program field to assure that students gain the competencies that will enable them to be successful in this program and their chosen field.
    • Implement and update state approved curriculum competencies, working in coordination with industry and program advisory committee for the purposes of improving student learning.
    • Be cognizant of safety and health factors; provide safe learning environment.
    • Work with related instructors in participating high schools and/or at the community colleges to maintain articulation agreements, a good working relationship, and a positive Skills Center image.
    • Ability to develop industry partnerships and create post-secondary opportunities for students.
    • Work with counselors, students, and administrators to develop individual programs to meet specific student needs.
    • Organize, manage, and appropriately maintain the instructional facility, equipment, and resources.
    • Keep current professionally by taking related courses and maintaining involvement in professional organizations.
    • Ability to collect meaningful data to drive instruction in a way that all students will have an opportunity to learn.
    • Maintain appropriate levels of confidentiality in all matters pertaining to students, parents, staff, and program.
    • Membership and student participation in a CTSO (Career & Technical Student Organization) is required.
    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Valid and appropriate certificate and endorsements for Washington State required.
    • Valid Medical Assistant, LPN or RN license.
    • Hold appropriate Career and Technical Education (CTE) Certificate in the areas of Health Therapeutic Careers or Medical Assistant (V510800 or V510801).
    • Meet requirements of Every Student Succeeds Act.
    • Ability to implement programs which will lead to industry certification of students.
    • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective classroom management.
    • Demonstrated ability to successfully employ effective teaching methods.
    • Demonstrated desire and ability to work and communicate effectively with staff, students and parents from diverse cultural backgrounds.
    DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS/CHARACTERISTICS:
    • Previous successful teaching experience at grade level/subject preferred.
    • Understanding of Washington State Common Core State Standards.
    • Demonstrated ability to use a variety of instructional strategies and methods appropriate for student learning needs.
    • Ability to integrate technology with the curriculum.
    • Problem solving abilities and critical thinking skills.
    • Ability to organize ideas, time and materials to accomplish goals.
    • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and plan with other staff members through Professional Learning Communities.
    • Desire and willingness to continue to learn and pursue professional development.
    • Be enthusiastic, flexible and have a commitment for students to reach high learning standards.
    • Willingness to accept extracurricular assignments.
