Cte Teacher-Culinary Arts High School

Primary Purpose: Promote student learning by providing responsive instruction that makes use of effective communication techniques, instructional strategies that actively engage students in the learning process, and timely, high-quality feedback which leads to improved student achievement and success.
Qualifications: Education/Certification:

1. Bachelor's degree from accredited university
2. Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subject and level assigned

Special Knowledge/Skills:

1. Knowledge of subjects assigned
2. General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
3. Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
4. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Experience:

1. At least one year of student teaching or approved internship

Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Instructional Strategies

1. Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of district's curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required

1. Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning

1. Present subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations in order to prepare students for industry certification and entry-level employment.

1. Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students

1. Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional

1. Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP)

1. Collaborate with Academic, Program of Study and other members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements, including the effective integration of academics and appropriate preparation for industry certification.

1. Partner with related business and industry to provide applicable work-based learning activities for students.

1. Plan and supervise assignments of teacher aide(s) and volunteer(s).

1. Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervise assigned teacher aide(s).
Equipment Used:
Copier, calculator, computer and printer, industry related equipment
Working Conditions:
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling and pushing required. Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment.
Terms of Employment:
Work year established by the Board; salary according to current schedule.
Evaluation:
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually.
