Ct Technologist

• Review images in PACS system.
• Be able to identify abnormalities.
• Be able to assist Radiologist in interpretation of patient exams.
• Performs CT procedures as prescribed by a physician including: positions the patients for the proper view of the affected area; selects the appropriate scan images to be transferred to a PACS system.
• Obtains essential information from patient, medical records and previous scans for clinical correlation; instructs patients about the proper physiological requirements for the procedure; helps patients transfer to CT exam table and ensures adequate patient immobilization to perform the scan; knows how to change scanning parameters to improve a scan; obtains diagnostic CT images by scanning the appropriate body part of the patient; submits diagnostic CT exam to physician for interpretation.
• Assists in performing life-saving techniques (CPR, first aid) to the patient if necessary.
• Practices sterile techniques and prevents cross contamination. Handles blood and body fluids and deals with infectious patients.
• Performs patient care tasks as needed.
• Requests charts and film folder from the online computer program

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, LICENSURE and REGISTRATION:

• High school diploma; graduation from an accredited Radiography school.
• ARRT (CT) registered; or registry eligible
• Current Radiologic Technology License (RTL) in good standing.
• BLS certification

EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:

• Minimum one year of experience and/or training with graduate CT
• Skilled in injecting contrast intravenously for imaging procedures.
• Skilled in using computer network system competently to process patient and department information.
• Knowledgeable and skilled in assuming responsibility for safety factors.
• Ability to explain procedures clearly and simply to patients.

REASONING ABILITY:

• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form.

INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:

• Must interact and communicate both verbally and in written form.
• Must interact and exchange information regarding patients with physicians and other departmental personnel, and outside agencies on a frequent basis while respecting the confidentiality of patient information.
