Job Description
General Summary of Duties: Performs a wide variety of routine duties including clerical and patient-related functions. the assistant is responsible for assisting members of the patient care team and providing a broad range of health care services such as patient check-in, preparation for the visit, patient education, assistance with exams and procedures, and patient transporting.
Examples of Duties:
- Properly inputs all required patient information into the system including protocol, patient history in full sentences, informing providers, and any additional information to the radiologist regarding the procedure.
- Obtains complete and detailed history to assist the radiologist with diagnosis from each patient.
- Prepares and cleans procedure rooms as well as assisting in all procedures as needed.
- Properly identifies patient and demonstrates compassion while maintaining patient confidentiality. Explains the exam to each patient to ensure patient safety and cooperation.
- Comforts patients by anticipating patient's needs, anxieties, and questions.
- May perform clerical duties.
- Consults with referring physician's offices by telephone in a concise and courteous manner.
- Burns CDs, and prepares film jackets. Also uploads CDs from outside facilities for comparison as necessary.
- Maintains exam rooms by stocking exam rooms with necessary supplies.
- Maintains equipment and reports any equipment malfunctions to supervisor or appropriate service provider.
- Checks and rechecks the schedule on a daily basis.
- Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols
- Performs related work as required.
Education: High school diploma or GED.
Experience: One year of experience as a radiologic assisting preferred. Computer experience required.
Certificate/License: Medical assistant certification preferred, but not required. IV certification required.
