Job DescriptionThe CryoEM Facility supports MSK laboratories that use cryoelectron microscopy as a structural biology tool. The facility contains a Titan Krios G2 microscope with Gatan K3 detector for single-particle cryoEM data collection and ancillary equipment for sample preparation. A second Krios (newest G4 generation) equipped with a Selectris X energy filter and Falcon 4i detector has just come online. The new microscope will support developments in single-particle analysis and enable future cryoEM technologies such as cryo-electron tomography (cryoET) and microcrystal electron diffraction (MicroED). Facility staff will also coordinate access for MSK laboratories to the New York Structural Biology Center's cryoEM resources (multiple microscopes, sample preparation technologies, training opportunities, etc.). The facility hosts software tools for data processing, structure refinement, and modeling, and provides training and technical assistance to users of in-house equipment and remote facilities.

The individual should be eager to work in a scientifically rich and stimulating, multidisciplinary environment. This individual should have a strong research background, the ability to multitask, excellent communication skills, and enjoy working with others. Salary will be commensurate with experience.

You will:
Reporting to the CryoEM Manager, the CryoEM Research Technician/Specialist will:
- Be involved in day-to-day facility operations, including sample preparation, microscope data collection, and equipment maintenance
- Train facility users
- Consult and collaborate with scientists on experimental design, data processing, and data analysis
- Administrative tasks
You have:
- Understanding of the basic principles of transmission electron microscopy (TEM)
- Affinity for tasks requiring fine motor skills
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team as well as independently
- Ability to manage time efficiently, complete tasks on time, and to adapt to unscheduled requests
- Detail-oriented, focused, and highly motivated
- A strong background in computation (i.e., Linux/UNIX environment) and image acquisition/data processing/analysis programs (e.g., SerialEM, EPU) would be a plus
Pay Range $78,900.00-$126,200.00
