Job Title:Crop Production Specialist
Location: Fort Benton, MT
Position Description: This position will be responsible for grower support, field data collection and seed management, and will work closely and report to the Agronomist. This position will be a primary contact and face of IND HEMP with our growers to assist in hemp farming practices.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Grower support-seed delivery, assistance in calibration of farming equipment used for planting and harvesting, assess planting and harvest timing.
- Grain bin inspections
- Harvested grain moisture assessments (at harvest and while stored)
- Field scouting for pests, disease, and weeds
- Tissue sampling, gather and send in samples for data
- Gather data on field history (chemical, crop rotation and management)
- Inventory management of seed (incoming and outgoing)
- Field inspections for seed trials
- Assist in grower contracting
- Assist with grower events and industry conferences and educational meetings.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Passion for agriculture, science, and agronomy
- Must be available to travel at least 60% of the time (including weekends and overnights when necessary)
- Detail oriented
- Knowledgeable using Microsoft Office products such as (Word, Power point and excel)
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, sit and stand for long periods of time, and other physical aspects of the job
Education and Experience:
- 3-5 Years work experience in agriculture related field a plus
- Bachelors' degree in Agronomy or Agricultural related field preferred but not required
- Agriculture background with farm equipment knowledge preferred but not required
