Summary:
Senior Supply Chain Specialist at Montana Precision Products serves as an assistant to the Materials Leader and drives supplier accountability, cost reductions initiatives, internal process improvement, helps design and ensure standard work is in place and being conducted. Drives step changes by implementing lean processes across Purchasing, Customer Service and all facets of the Supply Chain. Puts processes in place for sustainment of these improvements as well as daily operations of other purchasing functions.
Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and follow applicable laws and regulations.
  • Formulate or regularly review policies and procedures for bid proposals and procurement of goods and services.
  • Review and analyze the performance of various procedures and makes recommendations for improvements.
  • Develop data, and metrics to highlight how process improvement initiatives have improved department's performance against the company's priorities and goals.
  • Train purchasing and customer service clerks.
  • Evaluate and monitor contract performance to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and to determine need for changes.
  • Prepare purchase orders, solicit bid proposals, and review requisitions for goods and services.
  • Monitor changes affecting supply and demand, tracking market conditions, price trends, or futures markets.
  • Review and adjust Purchase Orders and expedite materials as needed.
  • Interview vendors and visit suppliers' plants and distribution centers to examine and learn about products, services, and prices and drive improvements if needed
  • Negotiate, renegotiate, and administer contracts with suppliers, visitors, and other representatives.
  • Purchase the highest quality merchandise at the lowest possible price and in correct amounts.
  • Analyze price proposals, financial reports, and other data and information to determine reasonable prices.
  • Maintain and review computerized records of purchased items, costs, deliveries, product performance, and inventories.
  • Research and evaluate suppliers, based on price, quality, OTD, service, support, production, and distribution capabilities.
  • Confer with staff, users, and vendors to discuss defective or unacceptable goods or services and determine corrective action.
  • Monitor shipments to ensure high OTD and resolve problems related to undelivered goods.
  • Analyze sales records and inventory levels of current stock to develop strategic purchasing programs that facilitate employee access to supplies.
  • Maintain a working technical knowledge of the goods or services to be purchased.
  • Review catalogs, industry periodicals, directories, trade journals, and Internet sites and consult with other department personnel to locate necessary goods and services.
  • Arrange the payment of duty and freight charges.

Schedule:
Monday-Thursday 9 hours, Friday 4 hours
Work Environment:
  • May be exposed to noise, dust, fumes, smoke (Not over OSHA Permissible Exposure Levels)
  • Safety training and equipment are provided by MPP in accordance with applicable law, industry standards and company policy
  • Occasionally lifts 25 - 45 #'s

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field and 5 years of relevant experience. -OR - High School Diploma (or equivalent) and ten or more years of experience in Purchasing or other relevant experience.
  • Two or more years of experience in a Manufacturing or relevant environments
  • Proven experience in process improvement, leading and facilitating projects with a record of successful implementation
  • Negotiation Skills
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to perform complex problem solving
  • Critical thinking and good judgement and decision making skills
  • Ability to effectively manage financial resources
  • Knowledge of Economics and Accounting
  • Ability to perform complex math problems
  • Strong enterprise resources planning (ERP) software skills
  • Strong computer skills with Microsoft Excel and Word programs
  • Provides excellent customer service
  • Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously

Employment Eligibility:
This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to U.S. export-controlled technology. Montana Precision Products will require proof of status prior to employment.
Salary Description
$60,000 to $85,000 per year DOE
