GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
 
Under the direction of the Director of the GSSA Regional Central Verifications Unit and in adherence to the mission and philosophy of CHW is responsible for coordination monitoring and maintaining the credentialing and re-credentialing process for the Greater Sacramento Service Area.  Facilitates all aspects of credentialing which includes but is not limited to initial applications re-applications site transfers maintenance of MSOW database and expirables.  Ensures compliance with the accrediting and regulatory agencies (e.g. The Joint Commission Title 22 CMS NCQA) Medical Staff Bylaws Rules and Regulations in regards to credentialing while developing and maintaining a working knowledge of the statutes and laws.    Responsible for the accuracy and integrity of the credentialing and clinical privileging database system for ensuring the timeliness of credentialing/re-credentialing verification processes.  Duties include the gathering verification and evaluation of source documents for education/training professional liability licensure/certifications hospital affiliations work history professional references and all other primary source verifications as required by the hospital(s) the medical staff(s) and regulatory agencies.   
 
QUALIFICATIONS
 
Education/Experience: 
  • High School graduation or equivalent some college preferred AA or BA degree
  • Three to five years of credentialing experience in an acute care setting or five years credentialing experience in an ambulatory or other health care setting preferred.
  • CPCS certification preferred.

Skills

  • Advanced skill level required in computers and various software programs.  Good typing ability to communicate in English English composition spelling and grammar   Knowledge and understanding of medical terminology.
  • Knowledge of TJC/CMS/Title 22 /NCQA standards and requirements.
  • Ability to interact in a courteous manner with tact patience and cooperation.  Ability to organize and manage time effectively as well as functioning in a team atmosphere.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality is essential to this job.   Compliance with HIPAA requirements.
  • Computer software: Microsoft Office products to include MSO/MSOW Excel Word Outlook Access Internet software.
  • Office equipment: copy machine fax and scanner.
Physical Effort:
  • Must be able to stand walk stoop and lift 15 pounds.
  • Visual and auditory acuity.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
 
 JOB DUTIES
 
1.       Processes initial appointments re-appointments (within the required two year period); site transfers of medical staff/allied health professionals in a timely manner and in accordance with the medical staff bylaws. 
 
2.       Ongoing Medical staff/allied health professional database maintenance of MSOW and MS4. 
 
3.       Ensures that all expirables (licensure DEA Professional Liability Fluroscopy and Board Certification) are reviewed obtained and managed on a monthly basis.
 
4.       Interfaces effectively with the regional medical staff office(s) and quality management department(s) to facilitate the credentialing process in a timely manner. 
 
5.       Performs other related duties as required.
