Summary:
To interact with all laboratory section personnel and personnel from other hospital departments and represent the laboratory to our external customers. Has oversight of all logistics of our internal courier services to include managing internal routes, supplies, samples, car maintenance and pick-ups/ drop-off at appropriate off-site locations. Primary contact with third-party courier service. Manage employee performance reviews, staffing and schedules to ensure appropriate coverage.
Responsibilities:
1. Achieves the organization's established expectations regarding quality service, team work and staff development.
2. Coordinates operations in one or more areas of responsibility. Organizes work and oversees staff so that tasks are accomplished and operational integrity is maintained.
3. Oversees and coordinates the training of new staff. With the Supervisor, prepares and helps to perform timely PEP reviews for couriers.
4. Responsible to insure that personnel maintain competency for the defined areas of responsibility.
5. Acts as a Laboratory customer service representative while providing quality patient care to customers and patients.
6. Completes event logs and forwards communication in a timely manner that allows for proper follow-up of issues and performs audits as assigned by the Supervisor.
7. Ensures proper working order of hospital vehicles including but not limited to: emissions, registration, insurance, mechanical maintenance, repairs, cleanliness etc.
8. Primary contact for contracted courier service.
9. Responsible for approving PTO and coordinating coverage for internal couriers from our contracted courier service.
10. Retrieves specimens for phlebotomy, logs into Cerner and distributes throughout laboratory.
11. Dispatch activities of the drivers and documents all activities as directed.
12. Delivers outpatient laboratory reports and supplies.
13. Retrieves outpatient laboratory specimens.
14. Responds to and follows up with messages on the routine courier line.
15. Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
16. Performs other duties as assigned.

Essential:
Must be 21 years of age and possess a valid drivers license.
Ability to read, write and communicate effectively (English), be comfortable and skilled with interacting with others and able to carry and lift supplies that may be moderately heave and/or awkward.
Minimum Experience: Two years laboratory experience, courier experience preferred.
