About the role:
Job Title: Counselor (Bachelor's level) Therapist (Master's level)
Home Office: (100% in-person) Vienna, IL or Anna, IL (MUST live within 90 minutes of these locations)
Area of Focus: Behavioral Health
Program(s): IPS- Intensive Placement Stabilization - IPS helps young people involved in the child welfare system build stability and reduce the number of foster placements and moves through mental health and family support services.
Immediate Supervisor: IPS Programs Coordinator
Hours of Work: 40 hours/week
Salary: $42,348 - $51,500 annually! (dependent upon education level and credentials)
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Human Services or related field; Qualifies as a Mental Health Professional (MHP) or a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP)
Skills & Knowledge: Knowledge of various behavioral and human development theories and practices; ability to understand mental health and substance use diagnoses, treatment planning processes, and evidence-based curriculums; knowledge of local health and human services resources; knowledge of basic crisis intervention and conflict resolution techniques; excellent written and oral communication skills; excellent computer skills.
Special Requirements: Travels to off-site/community-based locations for direct service delivery; participates in after-hours crisis response rotation; ability to schedule evening or weekend appointments; maintains and provides proof of a valid driver's license; maintains and provides proof of personal vehicle liability insurance; at least 21 years of age.
Job duties include, but are not limited to:
- Intervenes and evaluates consumers, establishes diagnosis. Develops treatment plan collaboratively with consumers by defining goals, specific outcomes and time frames for treatment.
- Intervenes therapeutically to change attitudes, beliefs and behaviors of consumers to improve individual and family level of functioning.
- Provides crisis intervention to stabilize consumer's condition by utilizing short term crisis intervention techniques and/or referral to other support services.
- Enters client information on the IPS Database in a timely manner according to IPS Program Plan.
- Facilitates recreation/socialization and cultural activities for consumers which provide enjoyable outings that prepare and encourage them to engage in activities independent of the agency.
- Provides case management and trauma informed therapeutic intervention to clients.
- Collaborates with DCFS caseworkers and makes DCFS reports.
- Carries a caseload as assigned by supervisor.
- Attends CIPP meetings when scheduled (CIPP meetings are meetings between DCFS and foster parents and others working with the client to determine level of care or placement needs/resources)
