About the Team: At the ZF Lafayette facility, the Cost Accountant is responsible for developing and maintaining standard costs for inventory valuation in the ERP, analyzing, understanding, reporting, and forecasting material expenses and variances, and working closely with Operations, plant Engineering, Purchasing, and Sales to provide accurate data for new product costing, operational process changes, and profitability/pricing decisions. Communication throughout all levels of the plant, critical thinking, problem solving, and the right technical skills will be vital to success in this role. Being flexible and able to work with other team members effectively will facilitate meeting the targets and objectives of the ZF Lafayette facility.
What you can look forward to as a Cost Accountant:
- Responsible for preparation, analysis, and reporting of sales and material cost for month end close, monthly forecasts, and the annual budget.
- Manage all finance activities related to the remanufacturing gear product line and annual physical inventory.
- Develop and analyze standard freight, labor, and overhead rates. Update and release standard costs in SAP annually.
- Cost and release new part numbers in SAP throughout the year. Generate costing reports used to analyze cost variances.
- Maintain the plant profitability file by customer and part number. Understand and explain profitability developments and complete cost studies and business cases for new products and product specification changes.
Your Profile as a Cost Accountant:
- Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance.
- 3+ years of relevant cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment. Automotive Tier 1 experience preferred.
- Advanced Excel skills and Computer skills required.
- SAP experience required. Experience with Power BI preferred.
- Excellent communication skills including verbal, written, and electronic with team members and all levels of management.
- Must have strong problem solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and also as a member of various teams.
