Primary Purpose

Functions an as intermediate (or expert) in field activities for Corrosion Control. Provides feedback in the development of company programs impacting policies and procedures for the application of technology by operations organizations. Acts a key contributor in multiple projects and tasks within the department, including development of work scope, budget, schedule, and resource requirements. Supports the ongoing training and field actives of corrosion control employees. Participates in the development of Corrosion Technical Advisor I.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provides feedback on corrosion related procedures and designs associated tools, equipment, and pipeline components. Drives continuous improvement by identifying gaps in Corrosion Control procedures and policies. Responsible for implementing solutions to program gaps through policy updates and new technology Follows/manages test methods for evaluating materials for use in corrosion control.
  • Provides technical assistance to clients through the support of Cathodic Protection field employees, programs, technology and strategic applications. Provides feedback with Operations Teams and Integrity management to solve complex Corrosion Control issues related to external corrosion deficiencies.
  • Serves as a consultant and project leader on special teams, utilizing individual skills and teamwork to resolve issues. Plans and coordinates project implementation and hand off to clients. Plans mitigative actions based on testing. Develops work scopes for mitigation actions,
  • Represents the company in industry technical committees, conferences etc.
  • Tests and evaluates new technologies, tools, materials and equipment as appropriate. Looks for new products and vendors/technologies. Identify appropriate survey methods on case by case basis.
  • Responsible Person for Company Standards and MSPs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties).
 ($96,600 - $144,900 / year)

Qualifications

Education

  • A technical degree or related experience is preferred.
  • Technical/Vocational training or related experience is preferred.

Experience

  • Requires eight years of experience in Corrosion/Cathodic Protection or a related field. 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of electrical circuitry (AC &DC) Intermediate Required
  • Understanding of electrical interference (stray current) Intermediate Required
  • Troubleshooting of Cathodic Protection systems Intermediate Required
  • Understanding of corrosion theory and mechanisms Intermediate Required

 

Licenses & Certifications

  • NACE/AMPP CP Tester (CP1) Required
  • NACE/AMPP CP Technician (CP2) Preferred
  • NACE/AMPP Internal Corrosion (Level 1) Preferred
  • NACE/AMPP Coatings Certification Preferred
