Correctional Facility Dietitian

The Correctional Facility and Senior Meals Dietitian is responsible for overseeing nutrition programs for both inmates within correctional facilities and senior citizens meals. The position involves planning, implementing, and evaluating nutrition services for these distinct populations, ensuring that both receive balanced and nutritious meals according to their specific needs and regulations. This will be an in-person position, officed at TurnKey Corrections in River Falls, WI.

Nutritional Assessment

· Provide input on nutritional assessments for both inmates and senior citizens to determine their dietary requirements, considering any medical conditions, allergies, or special dietary needs.

Menu Planning

· Develop and review menus that comply with dietary guidelines for both correctional facilities and senior meal programs.

· Ensure that menus align with budgetary constraints, facility policies, and the nutritional needs of each population.

Collaboration with Health Professionals

· Work closely with healthcare professionals in correctional facilities and senior care settings to address the unique nutritional needs of each population.

· Develop a strong level of trust and credibility with clients and the field regarding prescribed diet orders, medical nutrition therapy, and current client policies and protocols.

Education and Counseling

· Provide nutrition education and counseling for inmates and senior citizens on topics such as healthy eating habits, food choices, and the connection between diet and health.

· Conduct group nutrition education sessions tailored to the needs of both populations.

· Develop tools and training to assist food service operations in the areas of nutrition and operational support & quality assurance.

Work with County Nursing Staff and local Food

· Service Directors to design and deliver necessary program content as appropriate. Provide food service operations support in the areas of menus, medical diets, and food production.

Menu Implementation and Monitoring

· Oversee the implementation of planned menus, ensuring that meals are prepared according to established nutritional guidelines for both correctional facilities and senior meal programs.

· Monitor the quality and quantity of food served, addressing any discrepancies or concerns.

Compliance and Documentation

· Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to Correctional Facility nutrition and senior meal programs.

· Maintain accurate and detailed records of nutritional assessments, dietary interventions, and any relevant information for both populations.

Crisis Intervention

· Be prepared to respond to nutritional crises or emergencies in both correctional and senior care settings, working with the appropriate authorities to resolve issues promptly.

Continuous Improvement

· Stay informed about advancements in the field of nutrition and apply evidence-based practices to continually improve the quality of nutrition services for both populations.

Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or a related field.

· State licensed or certification as a Registered Dietitian.

· Experience working in correctional facilities or institutional settings is preferred.

· Experience in senior nutrition or gerontology is preferred.

· Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

· Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.

· Demonstrate flexibility to support periodic time-sensitive business needs outside the scope of a standard working day or week.

· Ability to build relationships, communicate effectively with clients, front line managers, sales, operations and support staff.

Compensation:

Annual Salary Range is $55,000-$70,000 depending on experience.
