The Corporate General Accountant will serve an essential role in leading accounting activities for Nichols Portland, Inc. These activities will support the consolidation and standardization of Nichols Portland, LLC and Alpha Precision Group businesses. In this role, the accountant will lead standard activities across NPI and will play a large role in effectively utilizing the Plex ERP system. The accountant will report directly to the Director of Finance for NPI, while supporting the needs of the entire business.
Essential Functions
- Conduct month and year end closing, ensuring all accounts are reconciled and balanced.
- Provide necessary financial reporting to shared service functions.
- Lead key functional accounting activities across NPI, such as payroll entries, bank reconciliations, allocation of expenses, commissions, etc.
- Oversee the accounting activities of the NPI Purchasing Card Program
- Key accounting resource for the Plex ERP System (chart of accounts maintenance, report writing, key data integrity, new customer and supplier creation, cost center assignments, etc.)
- Oversee compliance and regulatory reporting for NPI.
- Support all financial related audits.
- Provide accounting support for shared service functions.
- Serve as a backup to AR and AP shared service organizations.
- Complete Open PO reviews on a monthly basis, in conjunction with purchasing partners
- Other duties as required.
Supervisory Responsibility
- There is no direct supervisory responsibility in this role.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or related field
- 2+ years of accounting experience a plus
- 5 years of accounting experience
- Solid understanding of financial statements
- Skilled in gathering, managing, and analyzing data.
- Strong organization and analytical skills, and attention to detail
- Demonstrated understanding of accounting activities in an ERP system, Plex a plus
- Advanced proficiency with MS Excel
- Strong professional written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to multi-task efficiently under deadline pressure
- Work well in team environment, proactively support business partners and complete tasks with minimal supervision.
- Work safely and comply with all safety regulations.
