Corporate Communications Specialist

Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Head of Corporate Communications, this position is responsible for developing and executing enterprise-wide communication messaging, proactive/reactive PR campaigns and the company's social media presence while maintaining a positive brand image corporate wide and across the bank's footprint. The Corporate Communications Specialist will work cross functionally with multiple lines of business to ensure internal and external messaging is on-brand and executes on Atlantic Union Bank's broader communication strategy and format.
Position Accountabilities
INTERNAL COMMUNICATIONS

• Follow and execute against an internal communications calendar designed to educate, motivate and provide regular information to Teammates bank-wide.
• Develop and/or edit Teammate communications across different lines of business within the organization including email messages, talking points, video scripts, customer communications and executive communications.

• Work closely with the senior managers and business partners to gather information about critical topics and priorities, developing communication content based on this information.

• Ensure that Teammates are following established corporate communication policies, processes and functions in regards to requesting and disseminating internal Teammate messaging.
• Assist in the planning and execution of corporate events (e.g. annual picnic, executive Roadshows, etc.).

PUBLIC & MEDIA RELATIONS

• Assist in the execution of public relations strategy in accordance with corporate priorities, under the direction of Senior Vice President, Head of Corporate Communications.
• Work to help develop fresh story ideas that further our development efforts through earned media.
• Write press release and media pitches in support of public relations content calendar.
• Conduct follow-up on press releases and pitches to secure key placements for the company.
• Develop strong relationships with key media outlets.
• Monitor daily PR results and track results for monthly reporting and benchmarking.

SOCIAL MEDIA

• Implement the social media strategy, coordinate with stakeholders across the organization to ensure its effectiveness and encourage adoption of relevant social media techniques.

• Manage to social media editorial calendar and drive creation and execution of content for the bank's social platforms, including Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.
• Educate, evangelize and ensure Teammate awareness of the organization's social media efforts and best practices as needed.
• Obtain and uphold appropriate regulatory and compliance approval for all social networking endeavors.

Organizational Relationship
This position reports to the Senior Vice President, Head of Corporate Communications.
Position Qualifications
Education & Experience

• Bachelor's Degree required; preferred major in field associated with Corporate Communications or marketing (Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or equivalent experience in related field)
• 5+ years of experience in the communication/marketing field with preferred experience in internal communications and public relations.

Knowledge & Skills

• Excellent communication skills, including writing, editing, proof reading and speaking
• Working knowledge of media practices story pitching
• Must have a working knowledge of generally accepted business practices for the profession of internal communications, public relations, media relations and event planning.
• Prior experience working with media monitoring platforms such as Meltwater or Cision
• Proficient computer skills relevant to Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Ability to handle multiple tasks with attention to details
• Flexible, able to adapt to change

Salary offered will be based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. This position is also eligible to participate in either an applicable incentive compensation plan for the position or a discretionary profit sharing bonus program.
