How Will Your Role Impact First Command?
Working as a member of First Command’s Internal Communications team and reporting directly to the Director, Internal Communications, the Copywriter I and II writes and edits content for a wide range of internal communications across multiple communications mediums, including email communications, the company intranet, and presentations. This individual will ensure a consistent brand voice, adherence to First Command style standards, and compliance with internal standards. The individual in this role will play an instrumental role in creating an exceptional experience for First Command colleagues while building and cultivating our company’s unique culture. This role will partner with the Internal Communications team to inform, engage, and inspire First Command associates as they advance our Mission of coaching those who serve in their pursuit of financial security.
What Will You Be Doing?
- Write, edit, and develop clear, concise, and grammatically correct content aligned with First Command’s internal brand.
- Timely dissemination of content on appropriate channels.
- Create, edit and manage content on the company’s SharePoint intranet site.
- Assist with the production of company meetings.
- Write scripts for the company’s Annual Advisor Conference awards presentations.
- Participate in other projects and tasks as needed.
- Serve as backup for other Internal Communications team members.
What Skills/Qualifications Do You Need?
Education
- College degree required
- Communications, journalism, or English degree preferred.
Work Experience
- Two+ years’ experience developing and writing Corporate Communications, internal communications, or marketing communications for Copywriter I. Work samples are required.
- 5+ years’ experience developing and writing Corporate Communications, internal communications, or marketing communications for Copywriter II. Work samples are required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Effective in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment; able to meet multiple deadlines and prioritize simultaneous projects.
- Ability to effectively organize material, distill complex ideas and write concise, informative content
- Outstanding editing and proofreading skills with attention to detail.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask and shift priorities as business needs require.
- Develop interpersonal and relationship-building skills that facilitate strong working relationships with key internal stakeholders.
- Demonstrate proficient expertise in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), SharePoint and willingness to become proficient in other software.
- Experience in financial services, which might include investments, insurance and banking is desired.
- Internal communications experience is a plus.
- Experience writing content for digital media, including web/mobile products, would be a plus.
