Job description

Under administrative direction of Counseling Services, works closely and collaboratively with stakeholders to coordinate, plan, and implement scalable peer-support programming. Essential Duties

  • Coordinates all project activities for scalable Peer to Peer support; assists in execution of K-20 strategy for Peer to Peer Programs.
  • Recruits train and supervise a peer leader in mental health promotion and suicide prevention strategies
  • Serves as advisor and mentor to Devils 4 Devils, a student organization focused on Peer to Peer strategies for mental health.
  • Works closely and collaboratively with key student organizations, (including Devils 4 Devils) to define scope, strategy and outcomes.
  • Mobilizes students to engage and implement peer-support efforts and programs
  • Works collaboratively with all stakeholders, leadership, and community partners to define all project infrastructure to ensure successful implementation and advancement of scalable strategies.
  • Establishes and continually monitors/manages project expectations with supervisors and team, assigns tasks and identifies issues for resolution to ensure optimal team effectiveness.
  • Contributes to the implementation of departmental grant funded projects
  • Develops program promotional materials, health communications, and other marketing strategies for mental health promotion peer-support programs.
  • Designs and delivers targeted training content relevant for peer-support programming
  • Participates as a representative on committees and planning efforts for mental health promotion and suicide prevention initiatives.
  • Prepares and maintains all project status reports and schedules; tracks milestones/deliverables, critical paths and dependencies; re-sets expectations as needed in consideration of project progress/outcomes.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND five (5) years of related experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience coordinating and implementing mental health promotion and suicide prevention programs for high school and college-age students.
  • Experience coordinating and implementing peer-based programs, efforts, and initiatives.
  • Experience with training, education, and public speaking.
  • Experience managing volunteers.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of effective supervisory and managerial practices.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of student development and human development, including application to diverse staff and students.

Working Environment

  • Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office and community-based settings subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding, and manipulating a computer mouse; required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work
  • Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds
  • Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts
  • Ability to clearly communicate.
