POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for providing Peer Support and assistance to Peer Support Specialist within Communicare to assist them in meeting their job goals. Empower employees to remain in recovery. Provide leadership in identifying ways to implement peer programming and training across all agency settings.
QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum high school diploma or equivalent, five years of recovery experience, and at least five years of providing peer services in an outpatient setting. Ability to work with and coach persons in a manner that shows respect for cultural differences.
SKIL SETS: Possesses organizational, oral, and written communication skills. Must demonstrate a high level of familiarity with Microsoft Office. Must be able to lead organized programming such as participation station, peer group meetings, provide peer certification training, and able to resolve conflicts among peers. Must be willing to provide peer coaching to other peers.
PHYSICAL AND ENVIORMENTAL DEMANDS: Visual acuity necessary for updating files and completing documents. Hearing and talking is necessary to answer the phone and talk with employees and other individuals. Work is light with walking, standing, and sitting. Manual dexterity is required to perform word processing and other clerical duties.
JOB SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS:
- Provision of internal and external peer training, utilizing evidence-based approaches, curriculum, and treatment methods.
- Continued education and encouragement of Peer Specialists by utilizing Core components of Peer Ssupport in accordance with the Kentucky State regulations and promoting socialization, recovery, self-advocacy preservation, and enhancement of working skills by offering additional training in Peer Ssupport related subjects.
- Communicating with Peer Support Specialists and others in an empathic, supportive manner, referencing personal experience, and role modeling healthy responses/behaviors in the workplace.
- Provide encouragement and coaching to Peer Support Specialist(s) to achieve success in their work careers by utilizing their lived experience to the benefit of others.
- Attend meetings with Peer Specialist(s) and Supervisors upon Educate and support the Peer Specialist(s) in self-advocacy for the betterment of themselves and their careers.
- Data entry in accordance with state regulations of training (Core) certifications in required website (TRIS) or other data reporting platform.
- Lead, organize, and structure programming that promotes peer-led therapeutic activities in any therapeutic setting.
- Maintain a Peer Support consumer caseload as needed.
