Job Description
Tidewater Community College has served South Hampton Roads - both students and employers - for 50 years. It has grown from 1 campus into a regional educational and economic force. TCC is the largest provider of higher education and workforce services in Hampton Roads, enrolling nearly 28,000 students in 2019-20. Founded in 1968 as a part of the Virginia Community College System, Tidewater Community College (TCC) services South Hampton Roads with 4 campuses in Chesapeake, Norfolk, Portsmouth, and Virginia Beach, 7 regional centers and 2 important cultural institutions. The college had 3,203 graduates in 2019-2020, 40 percent of whom pursued degrees that would let them transfer to 4-year institutions. Of South Hampton Roads residents enrolled in higher education 36% enrolled at TCC. TCC's institutional accreditation is affirmed through 2027 by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges.
The Coordinator ofthe Academy for Nonprofit Excellence training programs is responsible for the development and coordination of all TCC training initiatives for the Academy, including the general management and executive director tracks and any special initiatives resulting from program development and growth. The Coordinator reports to the Associate Vice President for Professional Development Solutions.
The position supports the vision of TCC as the new millennium's strategic community college-a national model of a comprehensive community college in the 21st century. Its purpose is to work with the grant funding agency and area nonprofit agencies to design and implement a coordinated training initiative to enhance the effectiveness and retention of nonprofit agencies in the Hampton Roads area.
FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Maintain contact with nonprofit agencies to identify industry training needs and expectations, identify TCC resources to meet these needs and develop appropriate training proposals.
  2. Develop, organize and manage all facets of a grant-funded certificate program for Nonprofit agencies throughout the Hampton Roads area.
  3. Provide leadership for program including development of curriculum, course content, and supervision of course operations, applying knowledge of adult education and development methods using knowledge of current trends, critical topics, and changing laws and regulations in nonprofit community.
  4. Coordinate the delivery of training programs for the Academy including identification of instructional staff, development of curriculum materials, identification and procurement of training materials, implementation of appropriate contractual arrangements, maintenance of databases and spreadsheets and any other logistical support to carry out program activities.
  5. Collaborate with appropriate faculty and consultants to assist with curriculum development and delivery of coursework customized to meet the specific needs of the agencies served.
  6. Collaborate with instructors on the development of course content to ensure consistency with accreditation standards and CEU requirements, review instructor course outlines and educational materials to ensure consistency with program/course goals and make technology recommendations to enhance course delivery
  7. Deliver training as needed to meet the needs of program participants.
  8. Ensure all courses meet applicable standards and requirements of VCCS, college, and nonprofits for continuing education units.
  9. Conduct annual program surveys and all course evaluations, creating survey instrument and compiling results for distribution to funder and advisory committee and to identify training needs of agencies served.
  10. Develop, implement, evaluate program policies and maintain all program records
  11. Develop and implement strategies to increase awareness and enrollment among current and potential Academy students and coordinate Academy marketing/communication efforts with TCC's Marketing Department and web services to include collaboration on development of marketing materials
  12. Compile and deliver written reports, oral briefs and make presentation.
  13. In addition to course setup, course preparations and management includes: location, identification and reservation of rooms, room and equipment setup and checks, course catalog information development and course scheduling and being available on class days to support instructional staff and assist course participants
  14. Coordinate with appropriate TCC departments to ensure proper procedures/policies are met concerning course creation, student registration, student payments and billing while monitoring and working with the WFS Financial Services Specialist on business transactions, including funding requests/payments for consultants, student registrations/payments/ refunds, ensuring prompt processing.
  15. Develop and monitor budget for program; authorize and track expenditures
  16. Write annual grant proposal and prepare quarterly report.
  17. Other duties as assigned.

This is a restricted funded position.
Special Assignments
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
KSA's/Required Qualifications
  1. Comprehensive knowledge of and demonstrated ability in managing projects and knowledge of training needs in the nonprofit sector.
  2. Demonstrated ability to engage in group process planning and to organize constituent groups to develop curriculum and implementation procedures.
  3. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with faculty and staff and with community and agency leaders, and to negotiate and communicate effectively.
  4. Demonstrated ability to establish cooperative working relationships with a diverse array of individuals contacted in the course of the performance of assigned duties.
  5. Ability to make oral and written presentations and to develop effective training programs and materials.
  6. Demonstrated ability to manage people and tasks in a highly complex work environment.
  7. Knowledge of and ability to use a variety of PC-based software including advanced features of word-processing, presentation, spreadsheet, database, registration and communication packages
  8. Master's degree in a related field from a regionally accredited college or university.
