Job Description:
SUNY Orange Liberty Partnerships Program (LPP) is funded by the NY State Department of Education. This program helps students meet their goals, achieve academic and personal excellence, graduate from high school, and enter post-secondary education and/or the workforce as highly competent and compassionate adults.
The Coordinator of Student Programming and Parent Engagement will assist the Liberty Partnerships Program Director with the implementation of programming and reporting for the Liberty Partnerships Program. The Liberty Partnership Program (LPP) is comprised of an afterschool and summer program designed to increase socio-emotional learning, academic achievement, socialization, high school graduation, and promote college readiness. With a special focus on student and Parent Engagement, the Coordinator of Student Programming and Parent Engagement will, in collaboration with the Director of LPP, develop, implement, and maintain quality programming that aligns with NYSED & LPP's best practices for parental involvement that promotes academic success, student and family's needs being met, and district priorities. The Coordinator of Student Programming and Parent Engagement will also be responsible for the management of Student and family engagement strategies, which include building and maintaining relationships with faculty, staff, and students. This role will also assist the Director of Liberty Partnerships Program in developing and fostering key partnerships within the local community that best serve students within the afterschool program and meet the requirements set forth in the grant.
The Coordinator of Student Programming and Parent Engagement will support families in need through advocacy and referrals to resources and support programs that are available through local and national government agencies, non-profits, community organizations and stakeholders to ensure familial stability for students and families.
This position offers 20-29 hours per week and will require a flexible schedule that includes evening and weekend hours as needed. Additionally, travel will be required between both the Middletown and Newburgh campuses, local program sites and other sites as needed.
Requirements:
Education Required: Bachelor's degree.
Experience Required: Experience with programs that service at risk youth. Experience working with underrepresented populations.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Worker Characteristics:
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Education, Social Work, Counseling, or related field
  • Experience with grant-funded programs.
  • Knowledge of high school/college collaborative programming.
  • Strong computer and data entry skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication.
  • Familiarity with Newburgh, NY community.
  • Ability to work with youth and their families of diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with supervising personnel, coworkers, all college employees, and the public.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills and familiarity with Microsoft and Google Suites.

Salary: $24.00 - $27.00 per hour, commensurate with education, experience, and grant funding.
