Summary:
The Metro Atlanta Chamber (MAC) is seeking an early-career government affairs professional to fill the role of Coordinator, Infrastructure. This position will work closely with other members of the Public Policy team to advance MAC’s infrastructure policies at the state, local and federal legislative and executive branches.
The Coordinator will assist the Public Policy team with research, administrative tasks, attending and summarizing legislative committee meetings, monitoring activities at various levels of government, attending and representing the chamber at various meetings, and other tasks as assigned. The Coordinator will report to the Director of Government Affairs, and collaborate with all other departments at the chamber.
Work Program:
- Develop a strong understanding of infrastructure policy, help shape chamber priorities, work with team members to craft strategies and tactics to implement those priorities
- Collaborate effectively with partner organizations and stakeholders to advance chamber infrastructure priorities
- Attend legislative committee meetings, activities of senate and house, create summaries, draft letters of support as needed
- Cultivate and develop relationships with wide variety of stakeholders
- Review, analyze and summarize infrastructure and other bills introduced in the General Assembly
- Schedule meetings with legislative staff, partners, and others as needed
- Maintain a non-partisan approach in all respects, work with all members of the General Assembly and their staffs.
- Work effectively with employees of the state, state agencies and other entities.
- Attend outside meetings, conferences, dinners and other job-related activities as directed.
- Identify opportunities, needs, challenges to advance chamber infrastructure priorities
- Research, analyze and make recommendations about infrastructure issues that impact the chamber, region and state
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Skills & Competencies
- General understanding or working knowledge of the Georgia General Assembly, infrastructure agencies, partner organizations, etc. Experience with other levels/agencies/branches of government is beneficial.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook,), Zoom/Teams, and other virtual meeting programs, etc.
- Ability to communicate effectively across a variety of media phone, text, email, other online platforms, etc. with varying group sizes.
- Ability to network in small groups and establish and nurture new contacts and relationships.
