The Coordinator Emergency Management reports directly to the Executive Director of Emergency Management and Life Safety Systems. The incumbent will supervise and manage the activities and operations of the Fort Bend ISD Police Department's Emergency Management Division (EMD). Within the EMD, the incumbent is responsible for planning, directing and monitoring related safety and security services, supervision of assigned personnel, and providing highly responsible and complex administrative support to the Executive Director of Emergency Management and Life Safety Systems.
Position Description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in the process of recruiting, screening, interviewing, and hiring of assigned staff
- Initiate personnel actions including documentation and termination under the guidance of Human Resources
- Conduct the performance appraisals of assigned staff
- Address complaints and resolve problems in a timely manner
- Maintain timesheets and approve overtime

- Bachelor's degree
- Valid Texas Drivers License
- Completion of Incident Command System (ICS) training (to included ICD 100, 200, 300, 400, 700, & 800) within 1 year of date of hire
- NIMS Instructor preferred
- Minimum of 3 years of increasingly responsible experience in Emergency Management or campus administrator experience
- Organizational, communication, management and interpersonal skills are required to achieve the goals of the position
- Demonstrated knowledge of Continuity of Operations
- Demonstrated knowledge of acceptable supervisory practices
- Skill in interpreting law, policy, and procedure
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working and public relationships with all levels of District staff and with collaborative Emergency Management partners in the community and other districts
- Skill in plan and incident action plan development
- Skill to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing
- Skill in working in collaborative team based environment
- Ability to identify and implement best practices in school-based Emergency Management
- Ability to maintain accurate records and documentation
- Ability to maintain adequate attendance

Knowledge of all appropriate precautions, procedures and techniques is an absolute requirement. This position may involve rare exposure to blood or body fluids. Work may be performed both indoors and outdoors in varying climate and weather conditions. Equipment used will include, but not be limited to, a motor vehicle, various safety equipment, information technology systems and a two way radio. Must be able to push, pull, lift, and/or carry at least 20 lbs. Regular attendance is required for this position. Ability to be on call 24/7.
