Emergency Management Coordinator (Internal Applicants Only) Location: Technical, Galveston, TX Department: Emergency Management Job Status: Full-Time Rate of Pay: DOQ - Status: Open Until Filled Apply Now Job Description SUMMARY: This position is dedicated to assisting the EMC in directing, developing, and maintaining the Emergency Operations Center plans and programs for the City of Galveston. Work involves the responsibility of coordinating emergency planning with various Federal, State, and local agencies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITY: Include but are not limited to the following: Responsibility for assisting in the development, implementation, and maintenance of Emergency Management Plan, and standard operating policies of departments for the City, as well as assessment of manpower, equipment, and facilities available in the community. Application, implementation, and monitoring of federal grants. Work is performed with a considerable amount of independent judgment under the direction of the EMC within the realm of established policies, rules, and regulations.
Work is reviewed through reports, conferences, and observational assessments by the Emergency Management Coordinator. Working knowledge Of Police and Fire radio system and willingness to learn the system. Conduct Monthly Radio System Test.
SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES: Management of the Emergency Operations Center during events and incidents requiring activation as delegated by the EMC Supervise the non-emergency Call Center and employees. QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Knowledge of State and Federal government legal and safety compliance regulations. A minimum of Ten (10) years supervisory experience. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently.
Must be able to communicate with the Public, Employees, and State Agencies. COMPUTER SKILLS: Must be proficient in the use of the MS Office suite of applications. Specifically, MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
REASONING ABILITY: Must be able to work in a stressful environment and make difficult decisions under adverse conditions. CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Must be T.C.O.L.E. Certified Peace Officer.
FEMA I NIMS, complaint. Must be able to obtain Advanced Professional Series Training within eighteen (18) months of employment. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, talk, and hear.
