Coordinator, Theatrical Programming

Netflix is the world's leading streaming entertainment service with 250 million paid memberships in over 190 countries enjoying TV series, documentaries and feature films across a wide variety of genres and languages. Members can watch as much as they want, anytime, anywhere, on any internet-connected screen. Members can play, pause and resume watching, all without commercials or commitments.

Netflix is strongly committed to keeping the theatrical moviegoing experience alive. We believe in giving viewers choice, and in showing movies in the best way possible, including on the big screen. We present our films in many theaters around the world, including the legendary Paris Theater in Manhattan, which has been run by Netflix since 2019, and the historic Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood, which reopened in November, 2023. The theatrical team is a small, dedicated group of passionate movie lovers bringing an ever-growing slate of movies to theaters before they become available online. Theatrical exhibition boosts awareness and excitement for our film slate, creates conversation and awards buzz, and is a great service to the filmmakers. We are looking for a versatile, energetic, highly organized coordinator for the Los Angeles office who will work closely with the theatrical team to curate, book and schedule movies at the Paris and the Egyptian, as well as the Bay Theater in Pacific Palisades, CA.

The Role:
As the Theatrical Distribution Coordinator, you will play a key role within our theatrical distribution team, based in Los Angeles, and will report directly to the Manager of Theatrical Programming based in New York. You will be responsible for assisting in the planning and execution of theatrical events and programming for high-profile Netflix titles. This dynamic role requires a passion for cinema, a keen eye for detail, and strong organizational skills.

Responsibilities:
Theatrical Event Programming, Research & Coordination: Support the Manager of Theatrical Programming with programming research and ideation for upcoming series/events. Develop repertory series and one-off events to spotlight high-profile Netflix titles. Conduct ongoing deep dive research and analysis of current/upcoming Netflix IP to strategize event and series selection. Pursue/develop programming alliances with community/film groups and collaborate on opportunities to execute joint programs. Build showtimes for first-run & repertory screenings. Book films with studios for events & series. Extensive copywriting for secondary programming, and backup copywriting for primary programming. Handle intros and moderate Q&A as needed Research & develop a database of competitive theaters' programming.

Cross Functional Partnership & Coordination: Coordinate with Awards & PR teams to maximize talent appearances in theaters. Settle third-party film engagements and ensure film rental payments. Oversee print shipping of internal & third-party films. Prepare AMPAS letters for runs at specific theaters. Coordinate with Netflix Operations and other departments to schedule and accommodate internal, private events at all theaters.

The Ideal Candidate:
We are looking for someone with a minimum of five years experience in film exhibition or distribution who has a deep understanding of the recent history and current status of the Los Angeles repertory cinema scene - both from a business and cultural standpoint. Because the coordinator would need to be at the Egyptian Theatre frequently, they would need to live in or near Los Angeles, or be willing to relocate. Due to the high profile nature of our theaters and events, the ideal candidate will be able to meet the demands that require intense multi tasking efforts, high communication skills, and a keen eye for detail. While the majority of the work will be behind the scenes support, the ideal candidate will also be comfortable interfacing with filmmakers, guests, and audiences at theater events.
