Job Summary and QualificationsThe primary role of the Bariatric Coordinator is coordination of care for bariatric surgery patients. This includes performing nutritional assessments and establishing nutritional plans of care for the bariatric surgical patient.
What you will do:
- You will assist in administrative functions and the development, implementation and maintenance of patient care protocols, clinical pathways and in updating policies and procedures for the care of bariatric surgery patients
- You will serve as a clinical liaison between hospital and bariatric practice and is essential for achieving and maintaining MBSAQIP certification/ accreditation through meeting MBSAQIP standards and participating in site visits, tour of facility, evaluation of center and quality of care, interviews, random chart audits and rectifying any identified issues in accordance with published MBSAQIP standards.
- You will assist in the identification and reporting of quality issues and in the development of a performance improvement plan for the Bariatric Surgery Program to assess and improve the quality and efficiency of the program
- You will assume a leadership role in multidisciplinary team to facilitate collaboration and communicate program needs between all departments involved in Bariatric care.
- You will facilitate bariatric education throughout the entirety of bariatric process (preoperative, perioperative and postoperative) for patient and family through regular attendance at community lectures and support group meetings or other bariatric related events.
- You will monitor patients during hospital stay for continuity of care and adherence to bariatric protocols. Additionally, you will educate patient and family regarding postoperative discharge instructions and emergency protocols.
What qualifications you need:
- Must be licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state which you practice and/or hold an active Compact/Multi-State RN license
- A current American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider is required
- Must have at least: two (2) year full time equivalent experience in designated area
- Must be a graduate from an accredited school of Nursing: Associate's Degree in Nursing or higher is required
