Duties and Responsibilities:

Summary

Working closely with the Manager of Facilities Rentals and Reservation Service to coordinate all audio-visual and technical support services for North Park University. The Coordinator of Audio-Visual Services shall assure that all campus activities and events are equipped with requested equipment; operate, maintain, and repair equipment; hire, train and supervise student technical staff. May work evening, weekends and other hours to asure that events have received the necessary support.

The following information is not meant to be all-inclusive. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned as necessary.

  • Coordinate audio-visual and technical support for campus activities and events.
  • Coordinate requests for equipment and technical assistance; schedule equipment use, assign work to technical staff and may coordinate billing for equipment/services.
  • Advise groups on the use and capabilities of equipment as specified by contract and technical rider; make referrals as necessary.
  • Working with the Manager, hire and train technical staff to safely operate and maintain sound, lighting and stage equipment; operate sound and lighting or other stage equipment as necessary.
  • Assist the Manager with the development of the budget as it relates to audio-visual, technical support and staffing needs.
  • Facilitate equipment preventative maintenance; develop and maintain equipment inventory; recommend appropriate purchases.
  • Available to work evenings, weekends, and after normal university hours to supervise on and off campus unviersty sponsored events.
  • May supervise stage crew, inspect areas and troubleshoot problems occurring at load-in, load-out and during events; may clean areas before and after event, and may be required to secure area following event including locking doors and buildings.
  • Administer existing policies and procedures relative to equipment, safety, contractual obligations and services.
  • Act as an expert resource concerning technical services including rigging, lighting, audio-visual, photographic, electronic display and sound projects.

Requirements

  • Associate degree or certificate audio engineering, audio production, music technology, or related field in a higher education settling
  • 2 year of supervision, ability to train student technical staff
  • Ability to work collaboratively and strengthen partnerships in event management and production.
  • Extensive knowledge of professional Audio-Visual equipment for events.
  • Knowledge with event management and execution.
  • Capable to work with non-technical individuals in production of events.
  • An understanding and familiarity with computer equipment.
  • Ability to prioritize and keep track of multiple open issues.
  • Skilled in troubleshooting skills and ability to analyze new issues.
  • Ability and interest in learning new things “on the job” without formal training.
  • Have good attention to detail and excellent organizational and planning skills.
  • Be customer-friendly and hospitable.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.

  • Worked in higher education at a college or university, understanding the unique needs of the community.
  • Sense of proactiveness.
  • Ability to work independently and with others.
  • Experience with stage lighting.
  • Basic computer experience.
  • Basic livestreaming experience.
  • Comfortable with learning and using new technology.
