Position: Coordinator, Airfield Management Operations

Reports To: Assistant Airfield Manager

Department: T-Square LSC / Airfield Management Operations / Vance AFB, Enid OK

Pay Rate: $35.28 per hour

Shift: 2nd

General Function

Responsible to the Assistant, Airfield Manager. Expected to independently perform flight service assignments with little or no supervision. Performs assigned duties in accordance with technical orders, Air Force, AETC and FAA directives and local operating instructions. Receives flight plans (DD Form 1801 and FAA 7233-1), reviews for accuracy IAW Flight Planning Publications and recommends changes as appropriate. Transmits flight plans, aircraft arrival and departure times, diversion messages via the Aeronautical Information System (AIS) to the appropriate ARTCC, FSS, intermediate and destination bases. Transmits and retrieves Notices to Airmen (NOTAM). Conducts airfield checks for FOD, IFE/GE, RSC/RCR, airfield opening, nighttime airfield lighting and other events as needed. Responds to Bird Aircraft Strike Hazards (BASH) employing available methods for dispersal. Reports hazards to appropriate agencies for correction, documents actions taken and monitor status until hazard corrected. Receives inventories and distributes publications critical to flight safety to appropriate base agencies. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Major Activities (Typical Duties/Responsibilities)

1. Maintain situational awareness of airfield activities and overall responsibility for AM section while on duty.

2. Serve as the representative for the AFM during emergency response situations and during AFM's non-duty hours.

3. Assess airfield operations/situations, determine operational requirements and impose airfield restrictions as needed (e.g., closing/suspending operations on aprons, taxiways and runways).

4. Brief AM personnel on emergency and operational activities.

5. Conduct and document a shift change briefing prior to signing off-duty.

6. Conduct airfield inspections and checks.

7. Perform Airfield Management Operations Coordinator (AMOC) duties as required to support airfield/flying operations.

8. Other duties as assigned.

Skills/Abilities

1. Complete understanding of the flying mission, aircraft characteristics, airfield criteria/standards, Civil Engineering/Safety, Air Force Instructions and Air Force Manuals, aircraft maintenance support, impact of weather on operations and the effect of various support activities on flight operations in required.

2. Must have experience in creating flight plans, NOTAMs, and working directly on an airfield.

3. Drug Screen and Background Check: Pass with the ability to maintain throughout employment.

Minimum Experience & Education

1. High School Diploma or equivalent.

2. Have at least 3 years of experience executing AMSL duties and responsibilities.

3. Must have experience in creating flight plans, NOTAMs, and working directly on an airfield.

4. Complete local qualification training requirements, and AMSL/AMOS Position Certification Guide (PCG) or conduct a document review of the most current United States Air Force PCG for the duty position being filled within six months of hire.

5. Complete 5-level task items identified in the Airfield Management Career Field Education and Training Plan.
