Job Summary and Qualifications

The Graduate Medical Education Transitional Year Program Coordinator is a key member of the education leadership team at Lawnwood Hospital and assists the Program Director in the administration of all aspects of the program, in accordance with Accreditation Council for Medical Education [ACGME] requirements. The program Coordinator assumes a pivotal role in communicating with the teaching faculty, residents, specialty boards, hospital stakeholders, and East Florida GME leadership, and becomes an integral part of the community of Program Coordinators, GME Directors and senior GME leadership within EFD.


In the role, the coordinator will work with limited supervision as they oversee the day-to day operations of the Program, and in close collaboration with/under supervision of the Program Director and the Administrative GME Director at Lawnwood.

Specifically, the Transitional Year Program Coordinator, as part of the program leadership team:

• Manages the day-to-day operations of one or more [depending on size and complexity] residency or fellowship training programs

• Coordinates and organizes program recruitment efforts and the NRMP Match process.

• Understands the program accreditation requirements and assists in ensuring compliance of the program, residents and faculty with all applicable requirements.

• Prepares and maintains all required program/resident documentation.

• Coordinates program/resident onboarding and orientation processes.

• Serves as the resident/fellow liaison to assure a positive educational experience.

• Continuously assesses and coordinates a wide range of programmatic events and processes, including curricular activities, resident recruitment, onboarding and graduation, periodic assessment of residents, faculty and the program, budget planning and maintenance, management of required documentation in the electronic residency management system, annual ACGME program updates and accreditation site visits, communication with a wide variety of GME, hospital and external stakeholders. 

What qualifications you will need:

• Bachelor’s degree in progress/completed; Master’s Degree are preferred

• Minimum 1 year, 2-4 years of experience strongly preferred in Graduate Medical Education, and TAGME certification will be highly regarded.

• Alternatively, at a minimum 2-4 years of previous experience in administration and/or office management in an academic health care setting or undergraduate medical education, with demonstration of a leadership role will be considered

• Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF software, online meeting platforms, email and other forms of electronic communication.

• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing

Lawnwood Hospital provides interventional and therapeutic care, including open-heart surgery.
