Major Responsibilities:
  • Works in collaboration with the Patient Coordinated Command Center (PCCC) to provide operations oversight for patient throughput. Provides guidance and direction in the efficient management of patient throughput and evaluation of operations/services to ensure quality, efficiency and cost effectiveness.
    • 1)Provides oversight and the 24-hour supervision of house-wide throughput operations.
    • 2)Actively explores new opportunities for process improvement and/or redesign in order to identify and implement efficiencies in patient throughput, customer focused services, new or updated technology, productivity efficiencies, cost savings ideas, etc.
    • 3)Utilizing standardized workflows identifies, facilitates, implements and monitors performance improvement initiatives/projects in order to improve service, solve problems, increase productivity, and/or realize cost efficiencies.
  • Directs the comprehensive logistics of patient placement, transfers, appropriate bed assignment and capacity management.
    • 1)Manages the logistics process for strategic capacity management using predetermined metrics. Analyzes reports for causes of deviation related to patient throughput and access, develops plans of interventions and communicates trended information to hospital leadership.
    • 2)Provides direction and guidance for the daily operations of logistics and strategic capacity management.
    • 3)Focuses Leadership team on the principles and PRactices of patient throughput, including avoidance of unnecessary admissions, appropriateness of the level of care and bed management.
    • 4)Ensures compliance with all regulatory agency standards, i.e. federal, state, cite, DNV, IDPH, and all hospital policies and PRocedures.
    • 5)Conducts special projects and participates in CQI studies related to area activities, goals, and objectives.
    • 6)Assumes 24 hr. accountability for patient throughput operations.

Licensure:
  • Nurse, Registered (RN)

Education/Experience Required:
  • Master's degree preferred. BSN required. 2-3 years of clinical experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
  • Ability to prioritize work. Effective interpersonal communication skills. Ability to problem solve and make timely decisions. Basic computer skills. Knowledge of MS office. Demonstrated management Skills, including ability to work well with others, team building and conflict resolution skills, effective communication and PResentation skills. Ability to work across all lines of management and staff to promote good relationships among departments.
  • Current RN License in the State of Illinois

Physicial Requirements and Working Conditions:
  • Ability to prioritize independently and respond to multiple simultaneous requests. Ability to work in a fast paced environment with established time constraints and difficult situations. Ability to work within stressful conditions and difficult situations. Resilient and flexible in a changing environment. Ability to cooperate and work with others. Ability to make sound and timely decisions. Travel to Advocate Support Center and other Advocate sites.
