Job description

SUMMARY: The Cook will prepare and serve nutritious meals in compliance with federal food regulations and within budgeted resources, to achieve optimal client satisfaction in food and nutrition operations within the Woodland Park Clubhouse. The ideal candidate for this position will be committed to providing high quality food to youth, building strong community relationships, and enthusiastic about being a part of a world class Club experience for youth at the assigned Club.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Prepare CACFP compliant meals for youth and youth serving staff, including for community meals and events as required
  • Ensure appropriate quantities are served to all members, and that food service meets all CACFP guidelines and regulations
  • Responsible for inspecting food services daily including food deliveries, checking ovens, refrigerators, freezers, and all equipment for proper temperatures.
  • Responsible for proper food labeling and proper storage of opened food packaging
  • Unloads food deliveries, sorts and stores received goods and reports supply shortages in a timely manner
  • Conduct basic inventory needs and record keeping assignments
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization and safety of kitchen and pantry according to health and safety regulations
  • Prepare monthly meal plans no later than one week prior and submit for supervisor approval
  • Follow and maintain all required CACFP record keeping guidelines and procedures
  • Prepare and manage nutrition requirements for Child Development Center as needed

Requirements
SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

  • Highschool Diploma preferred; OR willingness to complete an employer supported education completion plan for a Diploma or GED within 2 years
  • Availability to get around to our different locations around Anchorage as needed
  • One-year food service experience in the area of general food preparation, proper food handling and safety, and sanitation required
  • 3 years of food service work preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally
  • Ability to achieve and maintain first aid and CPR certification
  • Must pass a name-based and fingerprint criminal records background check

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to walk, sit, stand, utilize fine and gross motor manipulation, and climbing ramps and stairs. The physical skills to operate all kitchen equipment and tools for meal service are required. Must be able to repeatedly lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may work in outside weather conditions, and the noise level in the work environment may be loud.
