Mechanic Assistant - Entry Level

The Maintenance technician (Entry Level), under the direct supervision of the Maintenance Manager, will aid in daily inspections and repairs multiple trailers and chassis.

Essential Functions:

• Performs PM procedures on a scheduled basis, completes required forms, and keeps a log of all maintenance work.
• Position will require repairing, inspecting, and maintaining multiple chassis.
• Repairs will include diagnosing electrical issues, repairing and replacing landing gear and chassis brakes components.
• Install minor electrical wiring and equipment, replace and repair wiring, as needed, repair electrical equipment,
• Responds to emergency maintenance requests as required.
• Maintain and ensure a safe working environment.
• Perform any other task or assignment as deemed necessary by the organization.

Knowledge, Skills, &Abilities:

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to perform basic math.
• Efficient individual with excellent time management skills.
• Attention to detail, self-starter, punctual, follow instruction, and hard worker.
• Working knowledge of basic tools and vehicle maintenance a plus.

Work Environment:

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work in a warehouse/ Yard environment. The employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. The noise level is usually moderate to high.

• Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time.
• Must be able to climb stairs/ladders, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, hear, and reach with both hands and arms throughout the day.
• Must be able to see closely (clear vision at 20 inches or less), have peripheral vision, and depth perception
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally.
• Must be willing to adapt to various environments, including but not limited to Hot environments and heights

Minimum Requirements:

• Candidates must successfully complete all pre-employment screenings, which include physical, lift test, drug test, and background check. Candidates must have the ability to read and understand English and apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.
