Form of workThe Cook I position in the department of Room Service at MD Anderson Cancer Center produces quality food and beverages for patients, guests and visitors. Production may be in quantity or cooked-to-order. Maintain quality and freshness of all food served in Patient Room Service & Dining Services. Follow standard practices, departmental policies and procedures and comply with regulatory requirements.
Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma or equivalent and at least one year of experience cooking in a high-volume food service environment.
The hours for the position are 5:30am-2pm, with rotating weekends and holidays required.
Hourly breakdown of salary range:
Minimum $17.00 - Midpoint $19.08 - Maximum $21.15

Adhere to policies, guidelines and procedures. Produce food to order, accurately and with flavor profiles and eye appeal. Possess understanding of standard mise-en-place practices and rotation of food product to ensure freshness and quality. Demonstrate ability to produce quality a la carte food on a high volume.
EDUCATION:
Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE:
Required: One year related experience in a high volume food service environment.
Preferred: At least one year of cooking experience.
OTHER:
Must obtain a current Texas Food Handlers Certification within 30 days of entry into job.
