Departmental Objective:To provide excellent food service to residential students, faculty and staff.
Purpose of the Position:Under the direction of the Food Service Manager, First Cook, and Second Cook, this position prepares and produces assigned menu items necessary for the service of meals according to recipes and established standards. It will also perform other duties as assigned to include but not limited to line serving, dish washing and special functions.

Ability to read and write
Demonstrated basic math skills
Knowledge of all types of cooking methods by reading and converting recipes
Knowledge of all kitchen equipment
Good organizational skills
Ability to complete multiple tasks concurrently
Ability to work in congested work areas and areas where wet processes are used
Ability to wear protective footwear
Ability to work in temperature extremes
Ability to stand for long periods of time
Ability to work a flexible schedule
Education Required:
High school diploma or equivalent
Experience Required:
Previous experience in a Full-Service restaurant or institutional feeding
Experience in practicing proper preparation, handling, storage and labeling of food according to safety and health guidelines.
Experience working in a high volume kitchen.
